Forget the infamous ‘Britain’s Next Top Model’ makeovers, this year the X Factor finalists are being made up ready for the live shows. All finalists have been seen leaving a cosmetic dentistry practice, and audience favourite Janet Devlin is a redhead. Whatever next? Reports this week about the X Factor finalists also include those of Craig Colton who has been put on a diet by Gary Barlow after claiming he wanted to lose a stone or two before the live shows began.

Personally, I think part of the fun is seeing the finalists all ‘glammed up’ and ready for the live shows, but this years preparations seem a little more dramatic then in previous years. I do believe that the reason we love X Factor is because the contestants are NORMAL people, who have a chance to become successful and in turn completely change their lifestyle. So I don’t think it’s right to change the contestants images dramatically. I’m not a great fan of Janet’s new hair, as she looked much more ‘innocent’ and ‘girlie’ with her long blonde locks, which suited her voice. But who knows, perhaps her voice and song choice will also undergo a make-over? We’ll have to wait and see.

For the first time in X Factor history, this year’s finalists will have a contract with a high street superstore. M&S plan to feature all the finalists in their Christmas advertising campaign in a bid to attract younger consumers. Never before have the finalists been able to undergo work whilst on the show, however they are reported to have been paid a small fee for the work they are required for – and as it seems from the photo of Sophie Habibis, they are receiving free clothes/M&S goodies too?
What do you think? Should the X Factor contestants be left as they are?
