Love is in the air. Or at least, that’s what the people behind all the commercial holidays want us to believe. Really and truly, I’m not sure if I fall for the whole Valentine escapades. It’s fun to do something with your other halves, but equally – romance should be a year round thing. And love should be shown to all friends, family and partners – whether a day tells you too or not. However, for fear of sounding like a complete Valentine’s Scrooge – I have put together a little list of some of my favourite (and oh so romantic) things to do in London this month. Whether you’re going to be spending the day (or weekend) with your partner, or your best friend – here’s a couple of ideas to get you started…

Flirt Over Fries…
BRGR.CO’s Soho branch is possibly my favourite place in London at the moment. It’s telling that I’ve visited four times in the last two months (even if it’s a 50 minute one-way trip to get there) and keep on going back for more. It has such a cosy, friendly feel – and a simple, but flavoursome menu. Their sweet potato fries are insane – full review here.
They’re currently offering a rather quirky Valentine’s Day option – in the form of a BRGR.CO afternoon tea for two (£34 per couple). Rather than your traditional tea, scones and sandwiches – their take is a much meatier display, with three burger sliders, three drink offerings each (vanilla pod milkshake, homemade ice tea and a peach bellini), mini fries and a selection of desserts. If you’re taking your man – I guarantee they’ll appreciate this far more than any traditional offering! Sofie and I had a little girly date earlier in the month and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Kiss In The Sky…
It might not be the most obvious choice, as it’s marketed more of a tourist destination but The London Eye is a great place for a date – as it offerings some incredible talking points and photo opportunities. You can actually opt for the ‘champagne’ experience, which includes a glass of bubbly and a smaller group in your pod – but it’s completely up to you (as the latter is a little more pricey). We visited just before Christmas (on a very special evening) and had such a lovely experience. I’d opt for an ‘after dark’ time slot, as seeing the city illuminated adds something extra to the view!

Beautiful Brunch…
Valentine’s Day does fall on a Sunday this year, so perhaps you might be on the hunt for the perfect spot for brunch – instead of a boozy dinner. If so, I’d wholeheartedly recommend the Darwin Brasserie at The Sky Garden. It’s the most beautiful setting I’ve ever seen (with incredible views over London) and the menu is pretty special too. It’s not as expensive as you might think, although I’d double check to see if prices are ramped up for the ‘big day’, as they often can be. If so, perhaps ‘celebrate’ the weekend after (or during the week). It’s such a special place to go and a unique take on a traditional date!

Or more than just lunch…
If you fancy making your romantic trip to the capital into a weekend – then you’ll be in need of a hotel. None will be more fitting than The Hospital Club (full review here) which is a really unique and quirky venue with a friendly, exclusive feel. The suites are more likely apartments than hotel rooms and each one is individually designed by different designers – meaning that there’s little nothing else quite like it. We had the best weekend when we stayed here – everything from the food, to the service, to the decor – and even the added touches – like a complimentary DIY cocktail bar – had been perfected like nowhere else I’ve stayed before. The standalone bathtub is in itself an amazing reason to stay there! It’s not cheap, but then again no-where this special is.
Do you have any tips for romantic things to do in the capital? And will you be celebrating Valentine’s Day?
