As we have now officially welcomed summer 2019, it’s the perfect time to highlight some of the interior trends which have caught my eye so far this season.
There are a huge variety of colours and textures taking over this year, along with some bygone eras making a come back in design.
So I have put together a little lust list of my favourite interior trends for this summer.
Natural Textures
Sustainability is the word on everyone’s lips at the moment, and this summer you can expect to see eco and raw materials taking over the interiors magazines. Natural materials such as bamboo, ethical cotton and jute are everywhere! Complimenting this is the rise in house plants, proven to reduce stress, improve sleep and purify the air, what’s not to love?
Jewel Tones
This summer don’t be surprised to see the vibrant hues of emerald green, ruby red or sapphire blue in beautifully styled rooms. These precious stone inspired colours have slightly taken over and are perfect for transforming any space, giving rich and saturated vibrance to a room. Try adding accent pieces such as emerald green cushions or Ready Made Curtains from Terrys Fabrics in yellow diamond to really bring a room to life.
Bringing the Outside In
The favourite trend of last year isn’t going anywhere any time soon! I love the botanical vibes of bringing plant life indoors, whether it’s in the form of a wild tropical print, or a menagerie of real house plants displayed beautifully around the house, I can’t get enough! This summer expect to see more exotic scenes than ever, with dark green and botanical colours here to make a statement.
Art Deco
This mid-century decadent look is definitely taking over! I can’t flick through a magazine without seeing a beautiful blushed pink armchair, a mix of angular and circular furniture coming together, or an opulent dining set with a mix of metals shining away. This is another example of new meets old, and it works so well. Expect to see lots of pink, olive green and navy represented in playful ways.
Maximalism
Embracing bold, clashing colours and dark hues, maximalism is a great way to express everything you love without worrying about design rules! This trend allows you to be truly carefree; so grab that floral wallpaper if you like it, and why not pair it with a bright coloured couch and a coffee table in a clashing colour? With maximalism anything goes!
Curves
Curved furniture is definitely in this year, with beautiful armchairs and soft fluid sofas making the perfect statement pieces. I love the femininity of these pieces which add a sleek modern look whilst still bringing a retro vibe. To embrace this trend in your home why not add a curved coffee table or ottoman, or perhaps go all out with a new sofa! This trend is perfect for smaller spaces, giving a more relaxed feel than the harshness of angular straight edged furniture.
Mix it Up
Mixing prints has never looked so good! Why not embrace the latest trend of selecting a variety of patterns in statement making pieces in your home. Contrasting patterns can be great for breaking down the traditional design boundaries whilst creating innovative and fresh interiors. Don’t be afraid to mix and match until you have the look you love.
So, there you have it! An overview of the top interior trends to look out for this summer. With some making a strong comeback from the past, to others which are still sticking around from last year! There are some really fabulous and easy ways you can decorate your home to stay in line with the latest trends.
