Life is too short; you don’t need to be a genius to know that. Excuse the cliché but you do have to make every minute count or before you know it time would have passed you by. And while going out drinking is fun, for some it isn’t tenable or enjoyable. There is plenty of fun to be had at home for you and your girlfriends.
Online bingo may sound trivial but it is a great way of keeping touch with your friends. For example, if you were to play online bingo at 32red, they give you £32 for free so it makes sense to give it a go. Not only can you enjoy the old age game of bingo, which we all know and love, but you can actually communicate. Unlike normal bingo, online forums actively encourage conversation, so effectively you and your friends can still go to the bingo but you can do it from the comfort of your own home.
Retro nights are also proving to be quite popular at the minute, especially those based around the 80s. Dig out your neon leg warmers and plug in your Walkman (an iPod will suffice) and start blaring out some Midge. Centre the girl’s night around food, movies, clothes, hair and of course music of your chosen decade.
There is nothing better than sinking your teeth into a decent bit of literature, so organising some sort of book club is ideal for all those Bronte lovers out there. Allow yourself a week to digest some of the finest works of literary geniuses (E.L. James does not count!) then meet up and divulge how you interpreted the text. These are very engaging and stimulating evenings and they also give you an excuse to gorge on food – Jane Austin and nachos go together better than Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett.
When was the last time you played a board game? It is actually really enjoyable to throwback and dust off one of your old board games and invite people over and play. There’s a reason why they were so popular in the 20th century, namely because they are awesome. If you are lucky enough to own A Game of Life get it out, purely to see one unlucky foe forget to get life insurance and subsequently get screwed. Board games are pretty riveting and can get surprisingly intense, even more so after a few glasses of pinot.
There are absolutely loads of things that you and your friends can participate in. Just because you’re not in a bar doesn’t make it any less fun, in fact nights in with your friends are more fun. There’s no queue to the bar or toilets and you can be your own DJ. You don’t have to go out to have fun but what you do need to do is ensure that you have fun.
