One of the fantastic things about having a blog is being granted the opportunity to try out new products that you may never have come across before. I was sent an email a few weeks ago regarding the new Anatomicals range and although I hadn’t heard about the brand prior to this email, I was keen to give the skincare collection a trial. As you will probably know by now, I am very rarely adventurous when it comes to skincare and tend to stick to one brand, however whenever I do try out new brands I am always pleasantly surprised, and this time it was no different.
The great thing about the Anatomicals range is that they don’t take themselves too seriously, from what I gather the brand is fun, quirky and for real women. It doesn’t claim to wipe away five years but does however let you know that after using the range, you are ‘all ready to be swept up into the nearest hunks’ strong muscly arms (sorry arm)’. The packaging is bold, fun and bright (none of that plain white and green packaging) and the names of the products are in themselves very quirky. The collection itself is called ‘The Hottie Tottie is Never Spotty’ which I think is amazing, and definitely highlights that they are a fun brand rather than one that makes a million claims but doesn’t live up to them.
So, it’s all very well talking about the packaging but I’m sure you are dying to know how effective the products themselves are. The first product I trialed was the ‘Here zitty zitty miaowow daily scrub’, long name but very effective results. Unlike other exfoliating scrubs which can be quite harsh and dry out your skin, the Miaowow Daily Scrub is very gentle and gets rid of any unsightly dry patches without taking an entire layer of skin off your face. It smells absolutely AMAZING, with fresh citrus-y notes and most definitely wakes you up in the morning! The scrub is suitable to use in both the morning and before bed, however as my skin is quite dry I’ve only been using it once a day. Despite it being fragranced, it hasn’t upset my skin which I was quite surprised about however if you do tend to come out in rashes when using fragranced products I would try this out once before you use it daily.
The second product I was lucky enough to review was the ‘Blitz your Zits to Bitz Face Wash’ which although is also directed to be used morning and evening, I found that it could be used with the scrub to wash away dirt and grease and also hydrate skin a little after exfoliating. It upholds the same citrus fresh scent as the scrub which I love, but also helps to reduce shine and leave your complexion clear and radiant. I did find that I had a few spots a day or so after using it, however this happens with lots of new skincare products I use and it is simply just getting to work clearing skin – which results in dirt coming to the surface. After a week or so of using the product my skin was far clearer and shine free.
My favourite product from the Hottie Tottie is Never Spotty collection would have to be the Easy Peasy No Squeezy Roll On Spot Clearer which is utterly amazing, and for the minuscule price tag it has – it is 10000% worth it. Whenever you feel a spot coming on, you simply roll on a little of the product (directly to the area) and within a few hours you can visibly see the effect the product has. Any red marks which may turn in to spots are immediately reduced in size and if you keep applying the product for a few days (or however long your spots tend to last) soon enough, it will go away completely. I’ve never before tried any spot clearing products as I don’t really get very many and if I’m completely honest I never thought a product could make a spot go away, so just tended to leave it. However, this has definitely changed my perspective on such products and I will be going out of my way to make sure I try a few more in the next few months. Until then, I will be using this and luckily, it’s just the right size to fit in my tiny hand luggage case for my holiday!
The fourth and final product from the range is the Pores and phwoars shine free moisturiser which most definitely does what it says on the tube – make skin radiant and glowing, without the horrible shine. As I hate having dry skin, I tend to pack on the moisturiser normally, which makes my skin kind of greasy looking after a few hours. With this product, despite still using the same amount I usually would – my skin felt hydrated but not greasy. It is quite thin and applies to skin really easily, so do watch how much you use – however if you use a suitable amount you will notice that skin is pretty much shine free and healthy looking!
Overall, I absolutely love the range. The packaging is adorable and I love the gorgeous illustrations on the boxes and tubes, someone has obviously gone to a lot of effort designing the collection and it has definitely paid off! I normally would be wary when trying out products which are fragranced as there is always a risk it will react with my skin, however I didn’t really have any problems and although a few spots surfaced after a day or two, they cleared up pretty quickly and afterwards, my skin was far clearer than it’s ever been! The range is available to purchase from ASOS and Superdrug stores nationwide. Each product is priced at an extremely affordable £3.99!
