With its chic white and grey packaging, Aveda has always stood out for me as a brand which maintains a very professional approach to eco hair, beauty and skin-care products. However up until now, I haven’t had a proper go at testing what they have to offer, so a little order from Feel Unique later – and I was ready to create my own mini spa at home!
Bursting with an array of styling, skin, body, make-up and fragrance items, the Aveda range offers everything you could possibly wish for in terms of girlie pampering, so it was difficult to reign myself in and just order two items. Priced between £15 – £60, they are what I’d term as ‘mid-range’ products (affordable, but only if they last) and after much deliberation, I finally opted for the Caribbean Therapy Body Creme (partially persuaded by the name, which found me lusting after a white sandy beach holiday) and the renowned Damage Remedy Restructuring Conditioner.
Blessed with a gorgeously sunny day on the morning it arrived, I wasted no time in slipping into my playsuit and slathering on the Caribbean body creme, which with hints of mango and lime – really does leave you feeling rather tropical. With a thick consistency, it needs warming up to lather up to the texture you can spread it over a large area, however you only really need a tiny dollop as it is very hydrating and sinks in almost instantaneously. You have to be a little careful when rubbing it in – as it can tend to coagulate into white lumps if you are too overzealous with your circular motions. With long lasting results however, the product itself (200ml) is very affordable in terms of value for money, since you only use a tiny amount each time – and really only need to use it after every other shower.
The Damage Remedy Restructuring Conditioner is equally as spa-scented, leaving your bathroom feeling and smelling heavenly! Soft in consistency, you simply leave on wet hair (after shampooing) for 3-5 minutes and rinse. The effects, if I’m honest – are not immediate, as I was expecting to brush through my hair hassle and tangle free however after blow drying – the results are very clearly evident. My hair was far shiner, healthier looking and much thicker in texture. Even more noticeable were the next-day results, as I tend to find my split ends are more evident after a night’s sleep – however the conditioner clearly did something right, as all the tatty ends were no-where to be seen.
Overall, I was very impressed by how deliciously scented and high quality both products were. It’s set the bar high for Aveda and I’m desperate to try some other products in the range (so desperate in fact, I’ve made a little wish list below). I may even have to use my own gift code (if that’s allowed) – see the bottom of the page for further details.
Aveda Intensive Hydrating Masque, Aveda Botanical Kinetics Purifying Creme Cleanser, Aveda Deep Cleansing Herbal Clay Masque, Aveda Invati Thickening Conditioner, Aveda Damage Remedy Restructuring Shampoo, Aveda Nourish-Mint Renewing Lip Treatment.
