Today is my actual birthday! I’m 22. And oh my goodness does saying that make me feel old. To celebrate and document the occasion on my blog, I thought I’d throw on my current favourite party dress and indulge in a mini outfit post. Because why not?
If I’m completely honest with you, birthday’s aren’t my favourite thing. Even if admitting that makes me sound like a complete party pooper, I never really ‘look forward to them’. I feel as though there’s a lot of pressure on making it such a special day and doing everything you want to do. Of course, it is lovely to have some special presents from family and friends (and I don’t want to sound ungrateful) but I find the whole thing a bit forced and strange. Maybe I’ll learn to love it in the future, when January isn’t burdened with exams and deadlines. We shall see.
However, I am celebrating turning 22 with this lovely Art Deco Motel dress (now on sale!) – which I provisionally saved for the Christmas party season – and then never got round to wearing. I usually hate the bodycon style (because my stomach is not my favourite area) however this is surprisingly flattering and hugs you in, in all the right places. The black crushed velvet esque material is flecked with gold thread, which makes it shimmer subtly!
I teamed it with this pair of black heels from Lipstick Boutique – which are so comfortable and feature a sparkly pink underside, which I forgot to photograph – but looks so pretty and gives the shoes a little something extra. They’re from the Jessica Wright range (and I’m sure you know from previous posts what I usually think of reality-star made clothing/jewellery/perfume lines) however this one in particular really surprised me by how gorgeous everything is – and the high quality especially.
So there we have it – a little birthday outfit to celebrate turning 22! Thank you for continuing to read my blog – and leaving such wonderful comments on the posts. It’s been a bit hectic recently with Uni work, but I always check them as soon as I can and it makes me so happy to read them – so I really appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback! I still can’t believe (even after four years) that people actually read my blog, so having you all join me here is the best birthday present ever!
Thank you!
Scarlett xx
