If you are a long (or a short) term reader of my blog, then you will have probably picked up upon the two main focal points that I regularly write about, celebrities and hair!
I am obsessed with all things showbiz, and so far my blog has had the privilege of attending several fantastic, out-of-this-world celebrity events, which I have reported on, giving you guys all the behind-the-scenes gossip. Although initially I was a little overwhelmed by the world of showbiz and it’s fantastic ‘champagne on tap’ events, I have tried to report on them in a ‘toned down’ manner, focusing primarily on what the celebs really look like in the flesh, what they were wearing, how their hair looked and what I spoke to them about.
Similarly, the second (or perhaps first) focal point of Scarlett London is my on-going mission to grow my hair, and to get it looking healthy, shiny and long. 2012 saw me grow it a few extra inches, but 2013 is certainly the year of achieving healthy, glossy, ‘just stepped out of the salon’ locks to rival Kate Middleton (well, almost).
So, when I saw that Charles Worthington were running a competition that collaborated my two favourite interests – involving a prize to report live from the BAFTAs (yes, you heard that right, THE BAFTAs) – there was simply no doubting the fact I would enter. You may remember, I narrowly missed out on being one of the two official blog reporter’s for the BAFTA’s last year, after making it down to the final 10, so maybe this year – I might get lucky. Fingers crossed.
In order to show you guys (and Charles Worthington) why I think I am worthy of the prestigious title which also involves a swanky make-over in the Savoy, I have decided to show off some of my previous showbiz event photos, with a little ‘how to hair’ guide on each one. If I am lucky enough to be able to report live from the red-carpet, I want to bring you all the behind the scenes gossip, as well as little ‘hair’ interviews – and ‘how to guides’ of my favourite styles of the night. So, to practice, here’s some ‘how tos’ from previous events:
Essex Fashion Week – April 2012
Essex Fashion Week was a real highlight for me, as not only was I able to meet and interview the stars of the hit show TOWIE, but I was also able to show off my new hair extensions (from Foxy Locks), which I straightened and blended into my natural hair to create a sleek, styled but natural look.
Although I was pleased with my look, I perhaps should have gone for a more volumized style if I wanted to fit in with the TOWIE girls, who had been hard at work with their rollers, curling to perfection to ensure ultimate bounce. So, what products could you use from the fantastic Charles Worthington range to re-create both of our Essex fuelled red-carpet looks?
Amy Childs: 1. Limited Edition Volume Big Bounce Spray (for creating Essex style body and extra ‘oomph’), 2 & 3. Limited Edition Volume Shampoo & Conditioner. It is also likely that Amy Childs used her own branded Sleep-In Rollers, which I haven’t yet tried – but are apparently life savers when it comes to achieving volumized body and bouncy locks.
Scarlett London: My hair is extremely prone to frizz and annoyingly occurs especially on the days I want my hair to stay sleek and straight, so a frizz prevention hair and conditioner is key to this look. 4 & 5. Frizz Free Shampoo & Conditioner. I have also had the pleasure of using the Charles Worthington Frizz Spray, which is a gorgeous leave in conditioner that smells utterly amazing and tames any stubborn fly away hairs. It is especially useful when aiming for a straight look, as you want to achieve a healthy, glossy looking straight style rather than a frizzy, over bleached look (especially if you have highlighted or lightened hair!).
Beau Bronz OK! Magazine Party – April 2012
I had a fantastic time at the Beau Bronz Tanning Party, which was covered by OK! Magazine in April. Not only was it a great opportunity to mix with celebs, but I was also lucky enough to speak to the lovely Nancy from OK! Magazine about what it’s like working in the exciting world of magazine and celebrity journalism. As one of my favourite weekly publications, I am an OK! Mag addict, so it was amazing to be able to talk to someone who helps put it together!
At the party itself, I met the lovely Lizzie Cundy again, who always looks absolutely amazing (see above), in addition to the stars of Dancing On Ice (in 2012) who were all in attendance to celebrate the official tanners of the show. My mum (see above) also came with me to the event (in fact, my mum is often my official photographer at these events, so she comes along to many) as she loves Dancing On Ice and thoroughly enjoyed talking to Torvil & Dean about one of her newest ideas (a mix between Zumba and Dancing On Ice).
Mum: 1. Limited Edition Volume Body Booster Mousse. My mum is blessed with naturally healthy looking, curly hair which I have always been jealous of. All she needs to do is add a little mousse, and she’s ready to go. My hair takes around 2 hours to achieve a similar look! 2. Hair Shine Serum. My mum’s hair is also enviably shiny, so a little spritz of hair shine serum will help in re-creating naturally glossy looking locks.
Scarlett London: As I said previously, whilst my mum’s look was natural, mine took around two hours to achieve. I used my Foxy Locks hair extensions for a little extra length (although my hair is now longer than my extensions) and wanted the look to appear very glossy, healthy and moisturized, as often curling or waving your hair can mean unintentional unwanted frizz. 3. Moisture Seal Shampoo (to give any dry or dehydrated ends an added boost of hydration). 4. Diamond Shine Gloss Treatment – which will give hair a more indulgent, glossy and radiant look.
Lizzie: Gorgeous Lizzie, who is a showbiz event queen, also went for a glossy waves style which looks soft, silky and healthy. 5. Soft & Silky Shampoo, which contains white truffle extract, is perfect for hydrating hair from root to tip resulting in smooth, soft and shiny locks. 6. Containing one of my all time favourite hair rescue remedies Argan Oil, the Overnight Ultimate Hair Healer acts as a nourishing, restorative mask which results in shiny, hydrating and healthy hair.
So, I hope you’ve enjoyed my (hopefully) creative entry. It would be a dream come true to report live from the BAFTAs, as I’m not only a blogger (who loves celebs and hair) but also an aspiring showbiz journalist, who has a lifelong ambition to report live from the real red-carpet, interviewing the stars and asking the questions that everyone is really pondering.
As a hair obsessive, it would be amazing to see how the celebrities look in the flesh, with their red-carpet tresses, and I could perhaps create some tutorials inspired some of my favourite styles afterwards. My blog would be filled with endless BAFTA posts if I were granted such an amazing opportunity, so I really hope that I might be in with a chance this year. If you too would like to enter, full details of the competition can be found here. Wish me luck!
