Company Magazine Blog Awards 2014

We were all delighted to find out that scarlettlondon.com had been nominated for a Company blog award in the very competitive 'fashion blog' category for the second year running, so I was even more excited to know that I would be representing the team and spending the evening mingling with exciting bloggers from all over the UK - and further afield (for the International category). The event itself was hosted at the uber cool Oval Space, a large, quirky, warehouse space, not too far from Shoreditch which with huge windows - allowed the sun to seep in, perfect for plenty of picture taking (they really do think of everything).I invited my friend Ruby along to the event and after traipsing up and down the streets of London it took us a little while to find our destination, which was tucked down a small side road. Luckily however, we found some fellow bloggers to follow who were all immediately recognisable, dressed up in on trend dresses and sky high heels. Ruby opted for an all white outfit with a red lip, whilst I kitted myself out in black on black with a pink lip to add a much needed pop of colour! Needless to say when we arrived we felt rather under dressed, which isn't hard considering we were going to an event with a guest list full of top fashion bloggers!The first thing we did upon arrival, naturally, was head straight to the bar, where there was a choice of several different pink based vodka mixed drinks or champagne, before then heading out onto the terrace to mingle and soak up the sun. Judging from the other bloggers outfits it seemed that long pleated skirts, white, long, floor length jackets and flowery headbands are all key trends for this summer, as I spotted a number of these styles weaved into everyone's blog-ready looks.Not too long after, we were called in to listen to the awards being announced, which were presented by the beautiful Boohoo model and MTV presenter, Becca Dudley. Unfortunately we didn't win an award this year but a big thank you to everyone who voted for us and well done to everyone else who was nominated, to even make it to the shortlist is a huge achievement and a brilliant accolade! One of my favourite bloggers What Olivia Did won the much coveted best designed blog award. Her website has come so far along from when she first started and it was certainly well deserved!The bright and airy main room had plenty of different stalls to try out, with Lee Stafford and Missguided on hand to style up everyone's hair and ensure we all looked pristine, in addition to a nail bar and a henna tattoo parlour.Once the awards part of the evening had finished, we headed onto the beautiful, sun basked terrace to enjoy some delicious free 'heck' gourmet hotdogs and ice-cream! Everyone mingled and chatted about the event and each others blogs. It really was a perfect way to spend the evening!I also had the pleasure of getting a photo of the lovely Helen who won best fashion blog with melonlady.com. She looked incredibly on trend and beautiful in a black and white palm dress, paired with white heels.At the end of the night each blogger received a goodie bag jam packed full with gifts!
