When it comes to delicious delights for your skin, my first stop is The Body Shop. Every trip into town involves gravitating towards their store – even if it’s just to sniff what’s on offer (am I the only one?) and so when I discovered they had a brand new range hitting the beauty market, I couldn’t resist a try.
The Smoky Poppy range is different to the majority in the sense it’s not based on a fruit or a specific ‘flavour’ so initially, I thought that it wasn’t going to be my cup of tea. Housed in dark red bottles, with a floating flower surrounded the famous logo, it’s certainly a chic product – but does it pass the sniff test?
Well actually, yes. I’m awful at describing the scent of things, but I’ll give it a good go.
I caught a whiff of the Shower Gel (£4), Eau De Toilette (£8.50) and the Body Lotion (£8) and was taken aback at how fresh, mellow and subtle the scent was. Although I’m usually loyal to the fruity, the sweet and the rather sickly, this one has changed my mind entirely, offering a seasonal transition and a really lovely base scent to wear during the day.
The Shower Gel is thick and gloopy but once applied to skin and lathered, it produces a lovely soft foam which washes off to reveal soft skin and a lingering signature scent. It has far more of a ‘sophisticated’ feel to it than my usual choices, but it’s actually a welcome addition!
The Body Lotion has a lovely ‘mulled wine’ scent to it, which I know traditionally is Christmassy (and probably has nothing to do with Poppy scents) but I absolutely adore it. It’s slightly spicy and mellows to reveal a really lovely lingering smoky scent.
The Eau De Toilette offers the same smoky scent however I found it a little too overpowering for daywear – as it’s quite a concentrated scent, so I prefer to wear this during the evening.
Have you tried the new Smoky Poppy range? What did you think?
