When they say there is an app for everything, they’re not joking! Now we can incorporate our smart phones into our beauty routine. There are a multitude of apps getting developed to help us make the most out of our beauty products, which is why I’ve picked a few of the best to share with you…
OPI Nail Studio
Example of app interface.
Available for: iPhone
Price: Free
The OPI Nail Studio makes it easy for you to see how a nail polish will look on your own hands. You can tweak the tint of the skin so it matches your own, then you can select a polish to see how it will look and if it will suit you. This is a great way to gage whether a colour compliments your skin tone, and also a great way to get ideas for your next nail polish splurge.
InStyle Hairstyle Try-On
Want Jennifer Anniston’s hairstyle?
Available for: iPad
Price: Free
Ever wanted to see if a celeb’s hairstyle would suit you? With the InStyle Hairstyle Try-On you can now see what your favourite celeb’s tresses would look like on yourself. Simply upload a picture of yourself and the app will impose your chosen hairstyle on to your head. Unfortunately, for some celebrities you need to pay a premium to use the service, but for it’s great as a bit of fun when choosing which hairstyle to go for next.
Lookz- Barry M
Lookz interface.
If you love Barry M, you’ll love this app. Not only will you be kept up to date on all the latest trends in the beauty world, but you’ll also be able to test out celeb-themed looks, like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. You’ll also have access to video tutorials and be kept in the loop about beauty news from across the globe. This is a great, fun app which is a must for all Barry M fans.

This app from Olay gives you your very own skin consultation in one minute. You’ll be asked a series of questions and the app will generate you skincare recommendations. You will also be presented with Olay products that could help your problem areas. The only downside is that Olay For You is an American app, and will feature some products you can’t get here in the UK. However, with a bit of shopping around you’ll be able to find the UK versions on the high street.
