Last week Italian hosiery brand, Calzedonia, hosted an exclusive workshop in celebration of their new denim leggings line and we were invited to join the fun.
The event was hosted in store by super cool DJ and fashion blogger Bip Ling in the Westfield Calzedonia store and it was all about customising. Calzedonia have launched their new lightweight leggings that can be worn all year round and following the SS14 trend of customised denim, Bip was there to lead an army of bloggers into customising.
It was a gorgeous day in London and on arrival we were met at the door with gorgeous summery lemonade and the yummiest cookies that had been completely pimped out Calzedonia style.
When I arrived some of the girls were already stuck in, customising their leggings while Bip was filming an interview for the Calzedonia site. After a quick tour around the store and look at what the girls were doing I decided to have a go myself; I’m not the most creative type so it did take me a while to decide what I wanted to do.
Laid out on a table there were paints, studs, lace, sequins and a million other pieces that we could use to re-create our leggings. The leggings are such a nice, lightweight material; at first I didn’t want to customise them at all because I liked them just the way they were! However, as the girls got more and more creative I decided to join the club. I will admit, my customisation is a little bit low-key compared to the others but as I’m not overly keen on accessorising – and wanted to actually wear the leggings in real life – I decided to keep it simple.
Bip was super chatty and everyone was talking whilst customising. I was lucky enough to sneak in a few private minutes with her to ask a few questions for the blog. She was so nice and down to earth and I can completely see why her blog is so popular and so many brands want to work with her. Bip has an infectious personality that made the event feel very much like a party.
SL: Bip, you are extremely popular and have done a few collaborations with brands in the past, how do you choose who you work with?
Bip: There are so many brands out there, if it’s something that suits my vision and it’s something that I’m passionate about. There are so many brands out there so if it’s something I see working with the ideas that I have then I definitely want to work with them.
SL: Talking about collaborations, what advice would you give the young bloggers who are starting out and are being contacted by companies.
Bip: It’s important to establish your vibe and what you like. I have thousands of people contacting me but you have to be true to your vision for your blog and to your taste.
Throughout the day people were coming in and out and I was able to meet a lovely bunch of girls. Thank you so much Daisy and the Bryan Morel team for such a fabulous day!
