Ever the advocate of ethical example, Lush’s latest campaign #crueltyfreekisses has to be one of my all time favourites. In celebration of International Kissing Day (6th July – this Saturday), they are attempting to set the new Guinness world record for the most lip prints collected in 12 consecutive hours – and they want each and every one of them to be cruelty free (ie: all natural, no animal testing, no nasty chemicals etc).
I’m taking part in the world record (and you can too) and have used my cruelty free liquid lipstick to create my #crueltyfreekiss.
In preparation for my kiss (because for all good kisses, you have to prepare – obviously), Lush kindly sent me a pot of their gorgeously delicious Mint Julips Lip Scrub, which is good enough to eat – and luckily, encouraged too, in addition to a pot of their lip service balm. Despite being a Lush lover through and through, both are products I’ve never tried before so I was quite excited to give them a go.
The Mint Julips is one of Lush’s tasty lip scrubs, famous for their exfoliating and buffing properties – perfect for preparing lips before lipstick application. After scrubbing your lips with a small helping of the product, you are then free to lick off the excess (yes really), so it’s completely edible and safe – oh and did I mention, it tastes very similar to Mint Aero (without all the calories of course). Although I wouldn’t recommend eating a whole pot.
The mini Lip Service lip balm is a little less edible, although makes up for it with it’s tangy, citrus fresh scent and shea butter properties which moisturize, hydrate and gloss your lips. It’s the perfect size to pop into your handbag (even your clutch for a night out) and instantly relieves any chapped, dry or sore areas.
Are you going to join #crueltyfreekisses and help break the world record?
