Now that Christmas and New Year celebrations are well and truly over, I find myself looking for the next ‘festivities’ to start prepping for. With holidays (my first is in May) a little too far ahead in the distance to get excited about, the next ‘day’ on the horizon is Valentine’s Day – which I don’t tend to ‘celebrate’ but it’s a nice excuse for a few themed posts. Rather than the typical ‘gifts for him’ type post this year however, I thought I’d put together a few romantic themed outfits, centred upon what I’d wear on a date night.
Suitable for both this blustery weather and the fact you want to feel your best, I decided to go with a warm but tailored look.
I love this textured brown trench, with a slight suede feel to it and a structured fit. It’s not the most warm of coats, I will admit – but it’s ideal if you’re just dashing from the car and into a swanky restaurant, or heading out for cocktails. It keeps the bitter wind off you, while not overwhelming your outfit – but adding to it.

I also opted for this gorgeous white blouse, which isn’t something I’d normally wear – but I actually love how dressy it makes jeans feel. It’s very tailored (I got a size 10 and it’s a perfect fit, so very true to size) and gives you a very feminine, classic silhouette. Plus the little black neck bow tie adds a slightly more formal feel.
The jeans are something I’d normally partner with a more casual outfit, but in this instance – I thought they worked really well. They’re so comfortable (which helps if you like to use your date nights as an opportunity to go all out and order three courses – or more – whatever floats your boat) and they also have a very on trend rip in the knee. This particular pair are from Brand Attic and I’m honestly not exaggerating when I say that they are the softest jeans known to man. The material is so luxurious and although they do nip you in, in all the right places, you don’t find yourself wanting to peel them off mid-way through the day due to discomfort. I have been living in these recently. And for someone that has a love-hate relationship with jeans, that’s a big statement!
Tying the whole outfit together is the bag and the accompanying heels, which I wasn’t initially sure would work
well – but I’m actually super happy with the final look. If you’re heading out in wet and windy weather, black boots would also do the trick – but I quite liked how the strap detailing gave the entire outfit a more dressy feel.
So there you have it, an outfit aimed at a date night.
Do you have a favourite ‘date’ outfit? And will you be celebrating Valentine’s Day at all?
