Of all the bizarre rules that exist around dating, perhaps the most bizarre is the idea that the best dates take place in the evening. After all, many of us feel at our best during the day when we’re fresh and awake. What’s more, the best venues will be less crowded earlier on in the day. And if the date goes really well, what’s to stop you carrying on into the evening?
With all of this in mind, here are our recommendations for some great daytime dates in the capital…
The Science Museum
This depends very much on you and your date, but personally I can think of few more romantic places than London’s Science Museum. Where else can you come within reach of objects that have literally been to the moon and back? There are all kinds of catalysts for awe and wonder around this museum, alongside countless conversation starters. Whether you’re interested in the outer cosmos or the inner workings of Charles Babbage’s difference engine, you and your date will never tire of things to talk about here.
The Warner Bros Studio Tour
If you’re keen to bring some magic to your date, look no further than Harry Potter. At the Warner Bros Studio Tour you can do just that, exploring the actual sets used in the filming of the Harry Potter movies. Whether it’s taking a romantic trip aboard the Hogwarts Express or experiencing the grandeur of the Great Hall, there is something here for everyone. Think of it as the perfect place to find the Ron to your Hermione, or the Ginny to your Harry.
The Chocolate Museum
Do we really need to elaborate on this one? It’s a museum of chocolate. Founded by a French Artisan chocolatier, here you’ll find memorabilia from across the chocolate industry, not to mention a few edible samples to take home with you!
There are plenty of workshops going on, so you and your date can try your hand at creating your own custom confectionary creations. If that sounds a little too much like hard work, there are also a selection of chocolate and wine tasting workshops to enjoy.
The London Eye
The London Eye overlooks the Thames, the Houses of Parliament and beyond. Book a car to yourself and enjoy a champagne drinking, chocolate tasting or even a gin tasting experience, depending on your fancy.
Whatever you decide to do on your trip around the world’s most famous Ferris wheel, you’ll be doing it against the backdrop of one of the greatest cities on Earth. Recognisable landmarks include buildings made famous by Sherlock, Doctor Who and Independence Day: Resurgence. What could be more romantic than that?
