I haven’t actually been to any festivals this summer, partly due to prior commitments and partly due to the fact that I wouldn’t even know where to start when it came to choosing which one (there seems to be hundreds at the moment). However, I didn’t want to miss out on all the fun – especially the outfits – and so when New Look approached me and enquired whether I’d like to take part in their festival moments campaign, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to get involved in the fashion side of things!
The campaign itself is a celebration of some of Europe’s best loved festivals – and their most iconic moments. If you’re a big music fan or a regular festival-goer, it’s definitely worth checking some of these out to see if you recognise them (or were there perhaps to witness it yourself?!). It’s a really cool interactive feature on their website and includes some ‘get the look’ type links for men and women.
So, over to what I chose – probably not the most traditional festival attire (I know it’s always associated with wellies, shorts and rucksacks) but I thought I’d go for something I’d wear out and about that was versatile enough to be ‘dressed down’ for a festival or ‘dressed up’ for a night out. I had a budget of £40 to put my outfit together, so opted for items that were in the summer sale.
First up is this lovely stone button down mini skirt, with silver detailing. You’ll have to excuse the fact I’m holding it up in every picture (that’s where my hand is) but I didn’t realise how generous the 12 would be. I’ve seen so many of these button down skirts recently (I have my eye on a white denim one) and wanted to try one out for myself. I’d recommend getting a size smaller if you want to wear them with a crop top – as otherwise they’ll sit on your hips rather than your waist.
Then we have this pretty halter neck crop top, which I think is absolutely perfect for a festival – maybe even teamed with high waisted shorts. For £6 you can’t really go wrong!
Skirt (£8), Crop Top (£6), Chunky Sandals (£11), Bangles (£6)
Do you have a favourite festival moment? Have you been to any festivals this year – can you recommend any?
