I have been so busy lately, I haven’t even thought about festive fashion, or Christmas party dresses. Seeing as I have quite a few events coming up over the next month or so (and need to think about what I will be wearing), I should really be considering it. So, when I received an email from the lovely Ellie at Phase Eight, letting me know about their latest ‘blogger party outfit’ competition they are hosting (with a prize consisting of £250 worth of vouchers), I thought it might be the perfect time to experiment with festive looks, and hopefully come up with some ideas for what I can wear myself.
Phase Eight have some utterly gorgeous dresses, which are perfect for festive events, as well as parties. Unfortunately, I couldn’t decide on just one outfit (there were too many items to choose from), so I’ve split up my favorites into outfits suited for different Christmas occasions!
I guess it’s wise to dress a little smarter for an office Christmas party, although smart doesn’t have to mean boring. I love Phase Eight’s sequin trimmed Carnaby dress, which perfectly blends the ‘smart’ yet rather ‘chic’ look that I imagined. The black patent Mary Jane’s are perfect for any Christmas look, and the t-bar elongates the appearance of your legs and gives a flattering finish. I am a huge fan of peplum at the moment, but sadly, don’t actually own anything peplum related (the jacket I wore to the Cosmo awards was borrowed), so I decided to add in this purple fitted jacket, for a pop of colour (it is Christmas after all) to what is otherwise an all black outfit (black is flattering though!).
For a ‘Christmas Cocktails’ look, I have gone for something a little more glitzy, but I can’t bear to part with the Mary Jane patent heels, so I’ve added them into this outfit as well. This gorgeous Lorabelle sequin dress has been delicately hand embellished, and even from looking at the image on the website, it’s clear how high quality this piece is. Sequins completely inundated the festive season last year, and seemingly, this year is no different – with many of the Christmas inspired pieces featured on Phase Eight having a sequin involvement in each piece. The faux fur jacket might be a bit much for some people, especially with the dress taking place as a statement piece, however I personally feel it adds to the glamour of this outfit.
Okay, okay, so I might not live in Chelsea. And I might not have a Christmas ball to go to. Yet. But with the number of long, ball gown style dresses that Phase Eight has on their site, it was hard not to resist featuring at least one. This gorgeous long black Paloma dress with baroque style applique and subtle beading is festive enough, without being over the top. By sticking to black pieces, and adding in metallic accessories, it oozes festive glamour, but again – not overpoweringly.
