There’s nothing I love more than value for money – especially in terms of make-up. My day is honestly made if I manage to get a great 3 for 2 in Boots, or a small discount on a product I’d be looking at for ages. So imagine my delight when I recently found an entire range of luxurious make-up products, but for a fraction of the price of those they reflect.
Glo & Ray isn’t a brand I’d heard of before nor have I seen it lurking around the blogasphere much, but that’s not to say it isn’t full of fabulous products. With sleek monochrome packaging (which has a waxy layer so it’s super soft to touch) and a range of gorgeous shades, it’s everything you could ask for in a make-up brand and more.
The Glo & Ray creamy lip colours are absolutely gorgeous, a hydrating base with beautifully pigmented colours and a matte finish. My favourite shades are Honey (647) and Fallin (614), a dark pink nude and orange toned red – respectively. They’re so easy to wear, apply and maintain – as the colour lasts for at least an hour before showing any signs of fading away. At £12 each, they are just about ‘treat’ priced and with everything ticked (in my eyes) they are worth every penny.
The Glo & Ray Nuage Solo Blush is another great product working in the brand’s favour. Reminiscent of another luxurious brand’s packaging and style – it is certainly dressing table worthy and with lusciously soft bristles, the brush is more than enough to achieve a soft, dewy glow without the need for further tools. Great for on the go, the blush is compact enough to fit in even the tiniest of handbags and the subtle shimmer is great for brightening up even the dullest of autumn/winter ensembles. I have ‘Dawn Seed’ and it’s a lovely peach tinted shade, which is ideal for use as a contour bronzer or cheekbone highlighter.
But probably my favourite of all of the products is the Velvet Two Way Cake which is beautifully light and airy, but gives really impressive coverage. Despite it being a powder, it’s effortlessly hydrating and doesn’t give that dusty sort of coverage which is easily detectable. It’s natural looking, easy to apply (using the soft sponge provided) and perfect for building up a layer of coverage dependent on the day you need it.
Have you tried Glo & Ray before? If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it! If you haven’t – it would be great to hear what you think about the packaging and product range!
