Despite having no viable form of income (aside from the odd sponsored post) and living carefully off my student loan, for some reason – since I started University, the allure of shopping has gotten the better of me. I spend almost half my time (it seems) scouring our high street favourites, looking for sale items and bargains – before purchasing something ridiculously expensive that perhaps isn’t the most practical of buys. Budgeting, unfortunately isn’t my fortay.
Just before the summer started, I took a trip down to my new favourite place for all things shopping – Gunwharf Quays, in Portsmouth – which not only has the most amazing array of designer and high street store outlets, but is in the most lovely of locations – situated overlooking the harbour – with stunning views of the nearby landmarks. Beautiful on sunny day, the shopping centre is completely open (with no roof) and spacious, reminding me of the huge outdoor malls you find in Florida or on holiday.
Gunwharf very kindly gave me a £200 voucher to spend, challenging me to find the best bargains – for a variety of different summer inspired looks (you can read that post here). To say it was a VERY good day was an understatement, topped off by the fact I managed to find the most gorgeous Ted Baker playsuit in the sale, down from £150+ to £25. I practically skipped all the way home.
Above: On holiday this summer with my mum and sister, wearing said Ted Baker playsuit.
Anyway, the point behind me reminiscing is because Gunwharf Quays has asked to work with me again for a student themed challenge – hosted by Student Lock-In. Unbelievably, I’d never heard about these events before – despite being at Uni for well over a year now, however I was pleasantly surprised to see that they offer huge discounts (up to 25% off outlet prices) to those with valid student cards. Hosted in the evening (7-9.30PM) and with DJ’s dotted around some of the favourite stores, it’s set to be an evening full of happy students!
I will be blogging and reporting live on the night, on behalf of Gunwharf (as well as making a few purchases myself) however they have kindly given me an £100 gift card to give away to one lucky reader. Valid for a year, you won’t need to come down to the Student Lock In to spend it, but it would be fantastic to meet you in person and help you pick out some items! Even if you’re more beauty inclined – Gunwharf offer a huge range of high end brands (such as MAC, Bobbi Brown and Elizabeth Arden) so no-one will feel left out.
