I’ve been experimenting with hair extensions and hair pieces since the age of 12, so when it comes to using a little faux help in the hair department, I consider myself a veteran. My hair has now got to the length that I feel confident at a formal occasion without extra help, however as someone who isn’t blessed with naturally thick hair – often it can look a bit straggly, however much I plump it up, curl it, twist it and attempt to morph it into something it’s not. So, inevitably – hair extensions are the next step in this case.
However, the majority of extensions I’d previously used have been in separate weft form – i.e.: differing thicknesses all used together to create a more ‘natural’ look. Although this often gave great length, I found it really tedious to insert all the different pieces – and hiding them in my thin hair was another problem. Plus, you’d be left with a sore head from all the points the hair would clip onto – which couldn’t be too good for your roots. I guess the next step was permanent hair extensions or micro bonds, but to be honest – I am so low maintenance on occasions (especially at Uni) I think I’d find these too much hassle.
So, when Sleek approached me with their new 1 piece weft with synthetic hair – I was intrigued to try it out but initially didn’t hold out much hope. Synthetic hair, in my past experience, had always looked a little too fake or shiny – Barbie esque – and that wasn’t the look I was going for. Plus, the lack of freedom to style it meant that it probably wouldn’t suit my natural hair. How very wrong I was.
With all the hair attached to one big single weft, you simply tie up the top half of your head, attach to your crown (with three simple clips), un-tie, brush through and you’re ready to go. The colour is absolutely perfect for my two-toned (very difficult) highlighted hair, which was a huge surprise – in fact, I’ve even worn this to Uni a couple of times and no-one really noticed! The length of the hair is about 1cm longer than my natural hair however the huge bonus is the thickness and volume this gives – I can go to feeling rubbish to popping this in and feeling like I’ve spent three hours ‘glamming’.
In fact, I even wore the weft in my latest outfit post and no-one batted an eyelid that it wasn’t my hair!
If you are looking for length or thickness improvement but hate the high maintenance that normal hair extensions demand, this is definitely something to try. It’s so easy, perfect for daily wear or just adding in for an instant boost!
And, best of all – it’s only £19.99. I honestly thought something like this would be at least £50, so for me – this is a really affordable yet high quality product!
