From the moment I set eyes on the Harts + Crosses website, I knew it was going to be very difficult to choose just one item. So much to my delight, the lovely Nicola kindly set over four gorgeous items from the website to wear. Aren’t I lucky!
Harts + Crosses is an independent UK jewellery store that prides itself on offering good quality pieces at affordable prices (and they really are affordable prices!). Nicola, the designer opened the store as a way of expressing and making use of her ability to create unique pieces that are both wearable and quirky. Recently, Nicola has begun selling vintage, pre-loved and new clothing on the website as well – all of which are priced afford-ably too. Everything on the Harts + Crosses website has been selected (or handmade) by Nicola herself and reflects her tastes, so if you find yourself liking one piece, the chances are you will love everything else too!
The four pieces I was sent by Nicola included a gorgeous teal blue sideways cross bracelet, which I absolutely love – as it is so easy to wear and at just £3, you can afford to own it in all five of the colours it comes in! Whilst you would expect something priced at £3 to look fairly cheap and disposable, the teal cross necklace is a genuinely quality piece and the chain isn’t your typical in-expensive flimsy ‘pull it and it snaps’ type.
The second item I received (which I absolutely love) are the gorgeous Cross Drop Earrings, which again – are so easy to wear and look gorgeous with any casual or dressy outfit. For just £1.50 (yep, honestly!) these earrings are a real steal and look much more expensive than they actually are! I personally love ‘drop’ style earrings, as they are more noticeable and actually add something to the outfit, rather than hide behind your hair.
My favourite piece from the selection Nicola sent me (if I had to choose) would probably be the Henna Hand Woven Style Bracelet, as it’s a really cute, unusual design and can be worn as an everyday bracelet. Inside the ‘henna hand’ is a little Turkish evil eye bead, which I actually collect (as I have relatives who live in the Turkish part of Cyprus and have grown up collecting them!). The Turkish Evil Eye amulet is supposed to warn off any evils, so by wearing a little bead representation – hopefully it should keep you out of trouble!
And last, but certainly not least – is the gorgeous Simply Simple Peace necklace (£2) which is ideal for festival wear, although I know festival season is over – and alongside any other ‘festival inspired’ outfit. Despite being extremely affordable, it’s of a really high quality design and has already been through the ultimate test – my five year old sister tugging on it whilst trying to drag me to watch Sooty. I’m pleased to say it passed the test with flying colours and certainly isn’t a disposable, one use piece!
So, thank you ever so much Nicola for allowing me to try four of your gorgeous pieces! I have worn each piece at least once since you sent them over, and since they are so cheap (and I don’t even need to wait until pay day), I may just treat myself to a few more!
