If I’m completely honest, I don’t think I’ve ever steered away from my trusty GHD’s. I got my first pair when I was ten and then another pair when I was twelve and I haven’t looked back. Of course, there has been times when I’ve had to use other branded straighteners (when at a friend’s house) but I’ve never experienced the same quality and effect as I have when using GHD’s. However, when Denman showed me a picture of their new Ice Diamond styling irons range, which feature in a range of gorgeous colours with cute diamante’s on top – I couldn’t resist having a go. I definitely wasn’t disappointed.
Trust me when I say that if they were awful, wrecked my hair or were something I honestly wouldn’t use – I would tell you. I pride myself on the basis that I give honest, genuine and trustworthy reviews. If I didn’t like a product, I either would say so in a review or send the product back. Denman’s Ice Diamond styling irons are something I would use, do use and will use.
Not only do they look gorgeous, but they have a fantastic list of features to rival any other styling iron. The floating plates in the straighteners, with advanced ionic technology (it is important that your styling irons have this, as it lessens the risk of your hair being damaged by the heat) mean that you are able to straighten your hair easily, quickly and without damaging your hair. It also means that the plates heat up in just 40 seconds (with an LED temperature indicator which lets you know they are safe for use), which is very useful for girls on the go who hate waiting around for your straighteners to heat up.
I think another of the most important things for me is the automatic cut off safety feature, as it means that should you leave your irons on (and forget to switch them off when you’re leaving the house) there is no worry that the house is going to burn down. I once burnt a very large hole in the carpet after leaving some curling irons on, and although I’ve learnt my lesson – it’s reassuring to know that your straighteners will sort themselves out should you forget!
Anyway, moving on to how they actually work on my hair! Personally, I think they were fantastic – I had no problems using the Ice Diamond Professional Styler and I certainly didn’t feel like my hair was dry and damaged afterwards. I think it’s really useful that Denman provide a heat pouch and a travel case with the stylers, as normally you have to buy your own. The box claims that ‘the stylers lock in moisture, natural oils and hair colour for total hair protection’ and I totally agree. Whilst many styling irons leave your hair feeling quite split, frizzy and damaged – these leave your hair feeling soft, shiny and manageable. Sure, you do have to make sure that your hair is treated well as these aren’t miracle workers and don’t transform very split and damaged hair into works of art, but they certainly don’t leave your hair feeling dry. Plus I think it’s reassuring to know that your straighteners are made and designed by a company who specialise in supplying professional products to salons. Denman are a very well respected brand who are well used by salons in the UK.
I have the ice blue pair, which I absolutely love because they are so different in appearance to other generic straighteners on the market at the moment. The Ice Diamond stylers come in purple, black, pink and blue and all feature a layer of diamantes. The thin, sleek design of the product means that they are easy to use for curling your hair as well as straightening. Although I have a pair of curlers, I’ve always found that styling irons/straighteners give a much better effect and often the curls last much longer.
Overall I love the look and design of these stylers, they are easy to use, I love the diamante detailing as I don’t think I’ve ever seen straighteners which are so girlie and gorgeous! They glide through your hair and don’t leave it in a tangle and best of all – they don’t come with a hefty price tag. At just £69.98 (from the Denman website), they are a fraction of the price of GHD’s but work in exactly the same way (and look much prettier!). I think they prove that you don’t need to spend an absolute fortune on your hair straighteners, but you don’t need to compromise on how the irons treat your hair. I would say to anyone that would like advice on growing their hair, or keeping it in better condition to invest in a quality pair of styling irons which have ionic technology and floating plates as they are much better for your hair. Don’t ever go out and buy a cheap pair of straighteners on a whim (like I did once), as you will regret it in the long term. These would definitely be top of my Christmas list!
