In the run up to Christmas, not only do we have the festive season to look forward too – but the great TV as well! Lucky us! X Factor, Strictly, Made In Chelsea, TOWIE and Downton Abbey permeate our screens on a weekly basis, much to our delight, but I never really feel like the build up to Christmas has started until I’m A Celebrity begins. In fact, I’d go as far to say that it is my all-time favourite. There’s nothing I love more than celebrities eating bugs, crying from lack of food (there’s no easy tasks to win ‘takeaways’ like in CBB) and living in a jungle, 1000’s of miles from home. And I’m not alone either. Aren’t we cruel.
This year’s line up looks set to be a good one and now it’s officially been confirmed, we’ve a pretty good idea of who will be camping in the jungle for three weeks (oh, I don’t envy them). In case you’ve been out of the loop, here’s who the campmates are this year:
David Emanuel, 60
Designer David has landed in the outback (having been spotted at Brisbane airport) so is set to be living free of home comforts for the next few weeks. Made famous in the 80’s, as the designer of Diana’s wedding dress, he has dressed many an a-lister, including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Elizabeth Taylor and Madonna. Having beaten cancer just last year, he wanted to enter the jungle to prove that he really can handle anything!
Steve Davis, 56
If you’re a snooker fan, then the name Steve Davis will probably ring a bell. Thought to ‘pull in huge numbers of fans’ to watch the show, he is looking forward to a bit of ‘deprivation’ and can’t wait to see how he handles ‘being faced with a plate of animal innards’. Mmmm!
Kian Egan, 33
Westlife’s finest, Kian has already arrived down under and is said to be preparing for his jungle stint. He claims that being in the band brought him many amazing opportunities and that this one – could be the best yet. We’ll have to wait and see.
Amy Willerton, 21
Fresh from the Miss Universe finals in Moscow, Amy has been spotted heading out of London Heathrow with lots of suitcases in tow. I have the pleasure of knowing Amy personally – and can’t wait to see her in the jungle. Hopefully it will give her the opportunity to shine in her own right, after being Katie Price’s protege (and winning her show ‘Signed By Katie Price’). She has a lot to show and is a great girl – so I wish her all the success! You’ll all love her.
Rebecca Adlington, 24
Olympian Rebecca shouldn’t have too much trouble in the jungle, after her sporting success. Fatima Whitbread (another previous campmate who had sporting history behind her) coped very well in the jungle, so perhaps she’ll follow her lead. Now retired from swimming altogether, I’m A Celeb will be her next challenge. Who knows where it might lead!
Joey Essex, 23
In the previous two series, we saw Hugo (MIC) and Mark Wright (TOWIE) enter the jungle, so it’s only fitting that another reality star heads into the depths of Oz’s wilderness. I can’t quite imagine Joey living anything less than the high maintenance lifestyle he currently leads, so it will be quite entertaining to watch how he adapts.
Laila Morse, 68
Eastenders favourite Laila landed in Brisbane over the weekend, and is setting up for her time in the jungle! It seems she is a fan of taking part in reality shows – having previously appeared on Dancing on Ice, however she’s hoping her stint in the jungle will be a little longer (she was voted off in the first week).
Alfonso Ribeiro, 42
Most notably remembered for playing Carlton in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Alfonso has been dabbling in TV presenting and Reality TV shows for quite some time before deciding to take a shot at the British version of I’m A Celeb. Having recently become a brand new father (his son was born on the 27th October), he claims he wanted to go into the jungle to ‘conquer some fears’. And show off that famous dance of his, no doubt!
Matthew Wright, 48
TV host Matthew will be heading off into the jungle! Known for being outspoken, opinionated and a bit of a joker – I’m sure he will set waves in the camp – unless of course he is faced with his ultimate fear – SPIDERS! There won’t be many of those Matthew, no need to worry!
Lucy Pargeter, 36
Claiming that I’m A Celeb was the only reality TV show she ‘would do’, it seems that Lucy has got her wish. Famous for her appearances in Emmerdale, she can’t wait to be ‘building, foraging and fishing’. Do they really do much of that?
Do you have any favourites already? Are you pleased with this year’s line up?
Don’t miss the opening episode (it’s always a good one!). Starts on ITV, 17th November 2013 at 9PM.
