For several weeks now, I have walked past the Lancome section in Boots and have been drawn to the amazing Jenny Packham Make-Up Bag that they have been giving away as a free gift for purchasing two or more items. If I’m entirely honest, Lancome has never before been a brand I’ve been drawn too. I’ve always seen it as a very high-end, non-student/budget friendly brand, whose products seem very mediocre. Really, this is based on complete assumption, because I’ve never actually given them a try before – but it was only when this gorgeous make-up bag was being offered up, that I had to give in and treat myself.
I did initially ask whether Boots would consider selling the bag on it’s own, but unfortunately this wasn’t possible, so I spent a few minutes browsing through their extensive range of products. Packaged beautifully, and clearly high quality products, it was very difficult to choose just a few products, but I finally settled on a gorgeous Ombre Hypnose Sparkling Colour Eye-Shadow in the shade S310 Strass Black.
As a smokey eye obsess-or currently (I blame it on the Kardashians!), the gorgeous silky shimmery black seemed like the perfect colour to use gently in the creaseline, for a dramatic evening look. At £17.50 for a 2.5g palette, the shadow is fairly expensive in my books, but having experimented this afternoon – I can honestly say it’s worth every penny. It applies so naturally (despite being a rather dramatic shade) and doesn’t smudge, crease or run whatsoever. The tiny glitter particles give it the right amount of shimmer, without looking like you’ve just stepped out of the Sugar Hut.
Of course, purchasing the eye shadow palette meant that I received the free Jenny Packham make-up bag and mini products that I have had my eye on for so long. Eek! Very kindly (and I hope I don’t get her in trouble for saying this) the shop assistant in Boots said that I could have the free gift for buying just one item from the range, rather than the usual two, because I explained that I had just bought lots of new make-up for the summer and was more so drawn to the make-up bag.
Designed exclusively for Lancome/Boots by Jenny Packham, the bag itself features a cute gold zip with a disco ball charm and a black and white canvas style print. It is just the right size to fit your travel make-up collection and skincare minis, and unlike lots of other free gifts, it is made really well – tying in with the quality of their original products.
Inside the bag itself are 5 mini Lancome products – the Tonique Douceur (a gorgeous alcohol free toner), the Galateis Douceur, the L’absolu Rouge Lipstick, the Bi-Facil and the Hypnose Volume Mascara. I haven’t yet tried them out but I’ve been reading reviews all afternoon and they sound fantastic, so I can’t wait to try them out! How gorgeous is this lipstick!
The offer is on until the end of June, so make sure you pop down to your local Boots if you fancy snapping up one of these gorgeous make-up bag kits! I believe you can also order online and still qualify for the free gift (the link to make sure you get this offer is here), so it’s definitely worth checking out.
I can’t wait to take mine away with me!
