After a rather jam-packed first two days (which you can read about here), the final few days of our trip were a little more chilled – which was lucky for me as I was nursing the most almighty hangover, wiping me out pretty much all day! I slept through two alarms, so it was a good job the hotel plays music throughout the halls and pool areas (from 11am – 8pm), as otherwise I would have missed breakfast!
Day three was dedicated to obtaining the full ‘hotel experience’ at BH Mallorca, making the most of the three amazing facilities which normally you’d have to travel to enjoy – the Water Park, the Island Beach Club and the Stage (with bi-weekly live sets). After a much needed cooked breakfast, we headed over to our designated area at the Beach Club, complete with gorgeous round white pool beds and champagne!
I decided that the ‘hair of the dog’ mantra wasn’t quite for me, as I passed up a glass of champagne and decided to go for a swim instead. Despite the fact that the pool areas are busy throughout the day with guests (and outside visitors, who come from miles away to enjoy the beach club) everything is kept pristine and there is a really luxurious feel throughout. Towards the afternoon, the music is slowly turned up (getting those final few late risers out of bed) and dancers adorn the grass platforms, giving the area a very lively atmosphere!
We were treated like absolute royalty in our VIP Island Beach Club area throughout the day – even extending to some massages towards the end of the afternoon, which I unfortunately missed due to the hangover getting the better of me and having to sleep in a darkened room (oops!).
After dinner, we had a bit of time to chill before the evening activities – which was another amazing VIP experience put on by BH Mallorca for us. With a huge open-air arena situated at the back of the hotel, guests are treated to two live sets each week – which often welcomes external visitors and a huge turnout! While we were there, Tinie Tempah was due to perform – which spread like wildfire among Magaluf – as the venue filled up so quickly!
I was really glad to have our own balcony to watch from, as I don’t think I would have been able to stand in such a huge crowd. The atmosphere was incredible though!
You’ll have to excuse the lack of make-up and wild lion hair, I hadn’t been feeling well (although I was cured by a magic hot-dog they were selling at the hotel) and I was making do with as little effort as possible. I thew on my very comfortable print playsuit from Boohoo (amazing for £15 – I practically live in it!).
After a busy couple of days, I was completely wiped out by the time the music had finished and in true Grandma style, went straight to bed while the rest of the group headed to Magaluf famous BCM!
Overall, I have to say – I was very pleasantly surprised by Mallorca and Magaluf in general. The area has the reputation of being tainted by drunk youngsters, with worn-out hotels and cheap watered down drinks standing as the only offerings however in reality, this isn’t the case. BH Mallorca in particular have done a great job of updating this outdated reputation with modern, clean and affordable accommodation – with a luxury touch. It provides guests with the best of both worlds – the opportunity to party the night away at the nearby strip, venture down to the beautiful beaches (again, just a short walk) for a boat trip or a sun-soaked city experience in Palma, which is very close.
I was really pleased that On The Beach gave us the opportunity to experience this for ourselves, as previously – I would have written off Mallorca entirely. Although there are some parts that lived up to the rowdy expectations (and I suppose we weren’t in full peak season – so perhaps once A-Levels finish, the influx will be greater), the main aspects are not overshadowed by this. The weather is absolutely incredible (amazing tanning weather during the day with a breeze during the evening) and there is something for everyone to enjoy – even if you’re a bit of an ‘early night’ lover like me!
Now I’m back, I’m already frantically scouring the web for another getaway and pricing up September deals over at On The Beach’s website. They have some amazing all inclusive deals (like we had on this trip) and for once, I don’t feel priced out of every single holiday on the website – do you have any suggestions about where I should go?
Have you visited Mallorca – what did you think?
