If you follow me on Twitter or you have read a few of my previous blog posts, you may know that I am currently on the MY Food Diet Plan, a delicious set meal plan which is delivered directly to your door! Although I’m not overweight and am not utterly distraught at the sight of myself, every summer I go on a diet in an attempt to achieve a ‘bikini body’. Every year the numerous diet plans I’ve tried have failed in some way or another (I’ve tried Weight Watchers, Counting Calories etc) so this summer I wanted to try something a little different. Something that would kick start my diet and make dieting seem, well…almost fun! I don’t have too much of a problem giving up alcohol (which I hardly drink anyway) and giving up chocolate and um biscuits doesn’t seem so bad after a few days, but its giving up delicious food that I hate the most. Diet food seems bland, tasteless and boring. How wrong could I be!
Having given my food preferences to the MY Food team (I’m a vegetarian and I dislike nuts) I was a little unsure as to what my food hamper would consist of and whether the limits I’d given them would mean my food would be boring and bland. However, Antonia (the very helpful MY Food team member I spoke to) advised me that it was not a problem at all and that the Blitz Body Food Plan (there are several different plans on the MY Food website) would be best suited to me, as I wanted to lose a little weight in time for summer. So, when my MY Food hamper arrived on Friday morning I was anxious to see what was inside!
Above: The MY Food delivery box!
Upon opening the box, I was astounded at the amount of food inside! Although, yes the contents are indeed supposed to last me one week, I thought that being on a diet meant you were allowed meager amounts of food, however I was greeted with large sachets of delicious looking soup and a pizza base (yes, A PIZZA BASE). Although it has all been cooked and prepared fresh, you are advised to freeze and refrigerate the contents upon opening. However, before I did so I managed to snap a few photos so that you can see just how much food is inside and how tasty it all looks!

When opening the box I also spotted a day by day meal plan, which tells you what to eat each day, at each set meal time. This means you can easily stick to the plan, even if you are on a tight schedule or have very little time to focus on meals – as you don’t have to think about what to eat and simply pour the sachets into a pan and heat up!
So, I’m now on day three of my diet plan and have been amazed by the taste of the delicious food and similarly, the results it has produced so far! On day one, I had a very delicious Mediterranean pizza (with peppers, soya cheese, sweetcorn and tomatoes) with coleslaw, which I NEVER thought I would be eating on a diet! Although I normally only accept pizzas which are slathered in cheese (yes, very fattening I know!) this meal pleasantly surprised me as it was both extremely tasty and filling! The pizza topping was quite sweet and I definitely didn’t miss the cheese!
Above: Thai Red Curry with Rice Noodles! (Apologies for the bad quality picture, this photograph does not do the meal justice at all. I was too impatient and ate it before getting a good shot!).
Last night, I had the Thai Red Curry with rice noodles which I can wholeheartedly say was one of the tastiest meals I think I’ve ever had. It had a real mix of both sweet and sour flavors which when mixed with the rice noodles, were utterly delicious! To make the curry, all I had to do was pour the sachet into a pan and heat until piping hot (it’s as simple as that!). I would quite happily swap this meal for ANY takeaway ANY day, it was that amazing. I literally cannot believe it’s diet food!
Talking of takeaways, when unpacking my box I noticed a leaflet regarding the MY Food takeaways option. This is for those who want to enjoy a low calorie takeaway, without compromising on the taste. Apparently the average Indian takeaway is over 1400 calories (and 1 plain naan is 550 calories alone!) so if you fancy cutting back on the calories but still want a treat then the MY Food Eat In Alternative might be ideal for you. So, if you don’t want to sign up for an entire meal plan but fancy a quiet night in with a takeaway (without the calories) then you can order from one of the four tempting options: Aromatic Indian, Vibrant Mexican, Classic Italian or Fragrant Thai (which includes the Thai Red Curry I have reviewed above – it deserves a taste from everyone!). If you do fancy it, you can use my voucher code which is TAKE30 (and you get the EAT IN for £7.50 a person – far cheaper than a takeaway!). I believe you can order the EAT IN range online at www.myfood.co.uk/eatin
So far, I couldn’t be happier with the MY Food plan! I haven’t really been hungry between meals (although if you are hungry, MY Food advises you snack on vegetables rather than fruit as they contain less sugar) and have been delighted by the delicious meals I’ve tasted so far. I’ve lost 2lbs so far (in three days) which I think is pretty good going considering I don’t have an awful amount to lose. Ideally, I’d like to lose another 5lbs before summer which I don’t think is too difficult – so hopefully this week will set me upon the right track! I will be posting another MY Food Diary entry soon, so if you are interested – watch this space! If you don’t follow me on Twitter but want to keep updated, you can follow me and receive updates via email by subscribing (there is a box that says subscribe on the right hand sidebar).
