It’s not often that I look at the sky and find inspiration for styling an outfit. Yesterday evening, however, I literally gazed up at the pale, serene atmosphere as the sun disappeared behind the London skyline and saw the sky fill up with the pale and deep orange colours of the sunset and noticed that perfect clarity that the sky has during dusk, with puff-pastry clouds in cream and ecru, their silver linings and candy floss textures of white and beige.
Mimicking yesterday’s soothing sunset, I went for a palette of ivories and beiges with dashes of sunset orange and midnight blue on one of my favourite Isabel Marant skinnies. Set against my Mum’s painting of London, predominantly beige, grey, white and pink, it was the perfect accompaniment to my outfit and almost like the colours of last night’s sunset.
Totally obsessed with this bright orange Sephora lipstick for summer (I know it looks more red in these images but unfortunately, that’s just the lighting); now that I’ve reached a golden tan and it’s sizzling hot in London, I am wearing it every single day and it looks fantastic. I generally prefer a matte finish with lipstick – I find that it looks classier and also more glamorous. I love orange with total black looks, too (especially lace to go out in the evening – coming up next week!) I bought this lipstick while on holiday in Monaco about a week ago so, it also reminds me of one of the best vacations I have ever had.
Wearing: Top, Zara. Jeans, Isabel Marant. Ballerinas, Lanvin. Bag, Chanel. Sunglasses, LGR.
My Chanel bag is not new – just the result of another one of my raids through my Mum’s closet while in Greece! That cream colour is so chic and the size is ideal for every day. Chose it to finish off my outfit and pull together all the whites and off-whites.
Barely-there jewellery is my thing; keeping my basic fine ‘oui’ Dior bracelet and ring, a simple signet ring and have added one more bracelet to my right wrist – a rose gold ‘tsarouhi’ charm bracelet (the Greek traditional shoe worn by the Greek guards in Athens) – but it’s only a summer thing!
Hope you all are enjoying the summer and this glorious heat if you are in London like me; I am loving that the sun is permanently out – although admittedly not great when taking public transportation in the bustling city!
Stay tuned for next week’s outfit and see how a swipe of matte orange lipstick can transform your Saturday night look.
