Wearing: jumper and trousers, both Primark. Suede courts, Manolo Blahnik. Faux-fur clutch, Prada. Sunglasses, LGR.
I have to admit, this week’s outfit was definitely influenced by my visit to the NEXT New In event last week, where I discovered their newest upcoming collection which is infused with soft pastels on skirts, fluffy jumpers and sandals in soft canvas or suede. You can read all about that event here.
I am especially loving petal-coloured looks for springtime so this week, I have decided to layer two different hues of candy pink and add a touch of powder blue to the palette of pastels. A pop of vivid orange livens up the pastels and makes for an unexpected but still appealing combination of colours. Really like the juxtaposition of textures, too: silk, fur, suede. The mix of pastels in this look reminds me of Impressionist painter, Degas’, gouache illustrations of ballet dancers in motion.
As always, I’m focusing on an effortless, oversized silhouette with loose, turned up trousers and soft, baggy jumper, the sleeves falling past the fingertips à la Céline.
Literally threw this on with little thought, curled hair thrown about and a pair of soft sand-coloured shades to complete the look. If you have to think about it too much, don’t wear it. The less effort, the better – it translates to a grunge, slouchy attitude which you then emit with instant cool.
