When I came back to London two weeks ago for my internship at Next, the last thing I prepared for was this summer in London; bright, blue skies, constant sunshine and 25 degrees Celsius every day. If I hadn’t been to the South of France for holiday before returning here, I would not have had a single thing to wear these past two weeks. And pretty soon, I did run out of things to wear and kept re-wearing the same flouncy tops, tees and shorts. Decided to go on an online shopping spree to get some spring/summer items that I could wear to work without dying of heat.
Alongside some cute tops and a summer dress, I found this fab romper on Topshop. I never thought I would wear a romper – (I don’t wear jumpsuits, either; I don’t know what it is about them, I always feel like they create a square shape or make your hips look bigger and if they’re not the right size or length, they pull up into your backside or fall so loose, you look like you’re a sack of potatoes) – but I absolutely loved this one, with the cute, flowy layers of silk, the cinch in the waist and loose bow at the back – it is perfect for every day, girly and lightweight. I love that it’s black – because with items like rompers, if they’re printed in florals or coloured, you can’t wear them over and over. I personally find it’s difficult to style the same printed/coloured one differently every time and make it look like another outfit. If you get it in a classic colour like black, white or grey, it makes it so much easier to style up or down on different days. Plus, in autumn it can be layered with a cool coat and some boots – done.
This cute romper is ideal for these London summer days and I love that it’s a set top and bottom. Offers style with almost no effort at all! I wore it to work one day, everyone loved it and it was so comfortable, too. Paired it with metallic pink ballerina flats for a pop of colour that is mirrored by my pink/gold Kuboraum shades and, as always, added my favourite mini cross-body bag in taupe – goes with everything and fits everything!
