In a very sudden and unexpected turn of weather conditions from sun and heat to cold and rain, I have – rather expectedly – turned to my favourite wintertime staples: cut-out booties and fur. Got this fabulous black, multicoloured faux fur scarf from ASOS and it’s exactly what I expected: big, fluffy, warm and super stylish. Love the bright stripes of red and neon yellow as well as the touches of cobalt blue which lend a luxe air to it. I’ve styled it mainly in black, plus, I managed to find a pair of classic blue jeans from Mango, cropped perfectly at the ankle à la Isabel Marant – and for an unbelievable £22!
Every winter, I have a favourite fur item; last year it was my black Mongolian fur scarf which was my everyday go-to during the cold, winter months. The year before that I was permanently wrapped in an over-sized beige shearling coat from Nasty Gal which I clutched around my shoulders as a cape. This year – it’s most certainly this. Fuzzy furs are so back for Autumn/Winter 2014; all the major designers resurrected fur in modern, over-sized scarves, snoods and “hand-warmers” (remember Céline and Christopher Raeburn?) In royal blue, bright orange and fuchsia pink, sumptuous furs in pops of colour are statement-makers this season. Pastels, chic greys and cream are for a more classic look that will never go out of style.
My new fur scarf is over-sized and coloured – just the right combination for my new season’s obsession. Lanvin and Marni, in sartorial ingenuity, transformed luxurious furs in oversized shapes that wrap around and over your coat, around your shoulders and upper arms (so chic!), while at House of Holland, fur was seen wrapped around and pinned at the front, leaving the rest to hang nonchalantly. I’ve gone for the Marni alternative (and bright colours of Marni) – my hands aren’t cold enough yet for those retro, hand-cosy furs…but who knows, in a few months, I might just give in and swap my Céline Phantom for an empty but furry and glamorous hand-clutch in tangerine!
I know it’s not Winter yet, in fact, it’s not even Autumn, but with gloomy days like these, one is bound to forget what month it is! Plus…I love that colder months allow for cool layering and I love to imagine how I will incorporate my high-end fantasies into my Winter wardrobe. At least with this fur baby, I am sure to stay warm and fab… Get it here.
