If you’ve read any of my previous beauty posts, you’ll probably know I’m quite fussy when it comes to foundation. The coverage has to be just right, the thickness light enough so that I don’t feel caked in make-up and the hydration enough not to accentuate any dry areas. Every time I find a new favourite, they seem to discontinue it – so I’m currently on the hunt for something a little different.
So far, I’ve purchased Clinique’s new foundation, MAC Face & Body Foundation and I have also been sent Oxygenetix’s new Oxygenating Foundation – which is what this review covers. I’ll be talking about each individually as the week’s go by, but having tried this out first – I thought I’d tackle this before the others.
Having never heard of the brand before, I didn’t really have any prior expectations or knowledge about the Oxygenetix, however upon the initial wear – I was pleasantly surprised. Not only is this super hydrating and easy to apply, but you can build really flattering coverage and still not get that smeared cakey feeling many of the sort leave you with. Best applied with your fingers (in my opinion) rather than a make-up brush, you almost forget you’re wearing it as the day goes on as it’s so light – yet it has pretty un-beatable staying power.
After a little research, I soon found out that this foundation has patented ingredients which mean it is the first completely breathable base, allowing oxygen to reach the skin and increase cell rejuvenation – which normal foundations block. Originally developed to heal and conceal skin after cosmetic surgery/laser/peel’s, the product is a regular backstage at the Oscar’s – taking pride of place in many top make-up artists kits.
It might not have the fanciest of packaging – or the prettiest name – but this is definitely worth a try if you suffer with dry skin and are on the hunt for a hydrating, great coverage foundation without clogging up your pores and weighing down your skin. At £45 a bottle, it is a high end product – but if you usually spend £40 plus on designer brands, I can honestly say this is on par with those. The bar is set very high for another foundation to compete with this one – I’m definitely on course to becoming a loyal devotee.
Have you tried Oxygenetix – the brand or the foundation? I’d love to hear what you think!
