I’m used to travelling on my own, with my family or with a fellow blogger(s), but I’ve always wanted to go on a bigger group holiday somewhere further afield. With University coming to an end soon, the prospect of everyone meeting up and going for a last amazing holiday is on the cards, so I might finally get the chance to do it.
There are tonnes of locations that I would love to explore (there are several of my bucket-list attractions in Thailand), but the USA is a major draw for me when it comes to my adventurous side. With this in mind, I’ve put together a few things you should definitely do if you’re planning a trip to the States with your friends.
Research where you want to go!
Research is important to any trip; you want to make sure that everyone will have plenty to do, but also be able to do their own thing too. In terms of an adventure holiday, this doesn’t have to mean hiking through the wilderness – adventure can simply be discovering new places, foods and people! These are my top two that I just can’t decide between for a group trip:
- Anchorage – the Northern Lights is something I’ve always wanted to see, and with whale-watching and spectacular glaciers, I can already imagine the Instagram posts we’ll all be taking.
- San Francisco – from the Golden Gate Bridge and Park, to wine tours and tastings, to Yosemite National Park and Reserve, there is something here to cater to every taste in your group.
Book with a good provider for your tours
This is so important! After you’ve worked out where you want to go, picking the right provider is crucial to a good trip. How will you get there, where will you stay, what hikes are the best for the area, which are the best restaurants? By going with a company like TrekAmerica, you know that all of those decisions are taken care of, and you’ll be taken from place to place in comfort and security.
Don’t forget the little extras
Make sure that when you’re going over your list of things to take, you check all the tours you’ll be taking and what equipment you need – you might not just need to pack your best walking boots! It will prevent any nasty surprises that you need to pay for if you know in advance what’s included, and that goes for researching the best car hire companies if you decide to travel across the States yourself!
