During the summer months, I tend to switch up my make-up routine so that it is less heavy and a little more natural, so inevitably – I turned to my new favourite beauty brand – Rouge Bunny Rouge. With gorgeously well made products, and a definite high end feel, the brand itself never fail to disappoint and half of my make-up bag currently is filled with their items.
Naked Disguise Glide Concealer (in shade Eunice)
As expressed in a prior blog post of mine, I am very fussy with concealers and have a love/hate relationship with them. Many brands tend to sit heavily on skin, rather than blending in naturally meaning that rather than fulfilling the job they are supposed to (and covering up blemishes) they end up doing the opposite and making them stand out even more.
Designed a little like a crayon/pen the concealer applies to skin with a soft, silky and waxy texture, and blends in with a circular rubbing motion. It is perfect for contouring because you can very easily highlight, define and smooth certain areas and build up the coverage depending on what you wish to hide or brighten. I tend to use it under my eyes, on my chin and on the bridge of my nose to create highlights (which photographs well) as well as smoothing over any red patches. It’s a fantastic product and definitely a must have for any beauty bloggers who are into contouring, highlighting and defining.
Luminous Skin Wand Concealer (in shade Alula)
This concealer is packaged more so like YSL’s Touche Eclat, and applies very similarly too (however I personally prefer this one’s silkier finish – as often the Touche Eclat could start to look a little matte under foundation). Applied under the eyes and on any blemishes, it provides a gorgeous radiant finish and gently blends into your skin to create natural coverage, rather than feeling too heavy or dramatic. The ‘Luminosity’ aspect in the name comes from the little light reflecting particles, which give the appearance of silky, dewy and luminous skin (which again, photographs really well and looks fantastic in real life too).
This shall definitely be replacing my previous concealer (the Lacura Concealer Pen) as it’s much lighter and softer which is perfect for the summer months. If you haven’t ever experimented with concealer before, this one is a great one to start with – as it gives really even and flawless results, with minimal application effort.
Time Defying Foundation (in shade Quinoa Cream)
As with many anti-aging foundations, this provides quite thick coverage but still maintains the ability to feel light and sink into skin easily, making it look and feel as natural as possible. I’d say the Quinoa Cream shade is perfect for my skin tone at the moment, but may be a little light during the summer months when (fingers crossed) I start tanning.
One layer provides the right amount of coverage for me, which is great – as it means that it’s super quick and easy to apply in the mornings, and the finish is more silky/dewy than matte, which again – I love. The lasting power of this is much better than I thought, as it was still in place when I checked in the evening, having applied it initially that morning, however it does start to dry out as the hours go by on my skin, as it’s not as liquidy and hydrating as some of my other foundations. I’ve found applying primer underneath prevents and prolongs this drying out/flakiness but I naturally have quite dehydrated skin so I doubt this would be a major problem for others. Packaged in a gorgeous chic glass bottle, with black patterns – Rouge Bunny Rouge certainly don’t disappoint! Again, a beauty bloggers must have!
Liquid Foundation (in Chestnut Milk Partfait)
Designed to have a milky, delicately creamy texture, all five shades of Rouge Bunny Rouge’s liquid foundation range are bright, light and natural looking, applying smoothly and blending in with the contours of the face. A little more hydrating than the Time Defying Foundation, with Shea Butter ingredients, this foundation really does last all day – and doesn’t flake, dry out skin or fade away. I know it’s a slightly weird thing to comment on, but this foundation has a really nice scent to it (which I guess is a necessity seeing as it’s going to be applied, and sat on your face for the majority of the day), a mix between water lily and Coco butter.
One pump of foundation covers your entire face (providing light-medium coverage), which means that the bottle itself lasts a long time and isn’t used up as quickly as many other high end foundations are. Best applied with a foundation brush (using light up/down strokes on the cheeks) the natural finish and the silky texture make it a new sure favourite!
