It’s fun to get creative with outfit choices, but it’s also equally as fun to keep things simple sometimes and opt for a few items – to create a staple look that you can wear again and again. Usually if you’re opting for the latter, you need one ‘focal’ piece for your outfit, followed by a number of mix and match items. In this case, the focal piece was this amazing patchwork shirt dress from Joe Browns.

Dress (Joe Browns) | Trainers (Adidas)
Any of you eagle-eyed readers may remember that I collaborated with Joe Browns before Christmas as part of their blogger campaign – and ever since, we’ve been working together as often as we can. Some of their pieces can be a little too ‘out there’ for my style, but I love the quirky, unique pieces that you simply won’t find anywhere else – and if you keep the rest of your outfit simple, more often than not, I find I can pull off more than I expected to.
Denim dresses can be a little hit and miss, as they can be quite bulky and therefore not the most flattering. This one however has a handy accompanying belt, which nips you in at the waist and dispels any worry of looking boxy. It’s a perfect transitional piece to take you through from Winter to Spring.

I teamed it with my new Adidas Superstars, for a casual (slightly sporty) look. It’s not the sort of thing you’d wear on a night out, but it makes for a great day outfit on a mild day.
What do you think of the trainer and denim dress pairing? Have you ever shopped at Joe Browns?
