Among all other food items, pizza seems to be the one constant that I simply cannot bear to part with. And when you’re attempting to eat well to fit into that new bikini this summer – the two don’t really go hand in hand. So, after a lovely Twitter follower recommended that I tried Warburton’s Square Wraps as an alternative pizza base – I have been addicted ever since. And I simply had to share the recipe as I’m about to turn into a square pizza, the amount I’ve been tucking into. Guilt free, of course.
At just over 350 calories each, these pizzas are a real calorie bargain (if that’s even a phrase) and definitely fit in with eating well, but not compromising the foods you love. And if that’s not enough to persuade you, they’re also super cheap and easy to make. I shall definitely be taking this recipe to university with me!
350 Calorie Skinny Pizzas…
Ingredients
Brown Warburtons Square Wraps (6 costs £1.50 or less if on offer)
Low fat mozzarella cheese
Tomato Passata
Vegetable based toppings of your choice
Pre-heat the Oven to Gas Mark 5 (190 for fan ovens) and make sure you have all of your ingredients ready.
Lay out one (or two – they are so good that I don’t like to share you see) square wraps on a baking tray before pouring over a small portion of passata (you can use tomato and basil pasta sauce which is low fat/salt/sugar also – but I prefer passata).
Spread the passata evenly, ensuring that everywhere is covered.
Sprinkle over the mozzarella cheese (one-two handfuls is plenty – anymore and those calories will start increasing rather quickly, which is a shame I’m a great fan of cheese, but unfortunately cheese isn’t a great fan of dieting). I promise the cheese spreads though and you’ll be left with a lovely oozy, cheesy pizza!
Before then adding a generous helping of your veggies of choice (yes, my vegetable of choice is sweetcorn – I’m slightly strange – but it’s delicious).
Pop it in the oven for 8-10 minutes.
And tah dah – 350 calories, 5 minutes preparation, 10 minutes cooking time, one happy (and full) Scarlett!
Just to prove I’m not fooling you (and tricking you into thinking it’s healthy), the calorie intake is worked out like this….
187 calories per brown square + 80 calories for the cheese + 31 calories for the passata + 60 for the toppings = 358.
Pizza all round anyone?
