So, this is my first proper outfit post! I’ve previously blogged about what I’m wearing, however the photographs have usually been taken by myself or in the mirror and have never really looked how I wanted them too. When I received my lovely new Mina dress through the post last week, I knew I wanted to do it justice by taking some professional (ish) looking photographs, rather than just standing in the bathroom mirror. So, I persuaded my lovely boyfriend to take some photographs of me – and here they are!
If you haven’t heard of Mina before, it’s a women’s online fashion brand that sells a variety of ‘one off style’ pieces, in the sense that they are very unique and the detailing is unbelievable. I instantly fell in love with my Polly dress, which is a velvet style dress with beautiful intricate detailing on the cuffs and neckline. I was a little unsure if it would suit me, but when I put it on I really felt it flattered my figure, and I’ve worn it several times since. If I’m honest, it’s probably the most ‘luxury’ style dress I own, as the fabric is unbelievably soft and the detailing makes it look very expensive.
I took (or my boyfriend took) these photographs today, hence the summer-esque weather! I can’t believe how warm and sunny it is today – finally summer is beginning to shine through! My Mina dress is ideal for weather like this, as originally I’d planned to wear it with black tights (in anticipation of much colder weather), but I think it looks great with bare legs too! In colder weather, the velvet means that the dress is very warm but in warmer weather (or at least UK warmer weather) you can wear the dress with bare legs, but still be protected from colder breezes.
The dress itself comes in either black or navy, and can be bought online from Mina’s website. It’s currently priced at £62, which although may seem a little pricey in comparison to high street stores – I can assure you, you are paying for a quality, unique and wearable piece that can be dressed up or down. I’ve styled it in one way in these photographs, but I debated over wearing it with a black jacket, a blazer, tights, court heels or wedges. Plus the delivery on the site is very cheap in comparison to other online stores, and I can guarantee there will be more than one item you’ll like if you take a look. I also love the Popsicle Blouse, which has an amazing petal print and is perfect for summer, plus the Lennie Top which has a beautiful use for sequins!
My shoes (which I also love) are from Chockers, and I will be doing a blog post on them very soon! I like to think of them as the high street girls Jeffrey Campbell’s. They are very similar to his Lita shoes, and although they’re taking a bit of getting used to in the walking department, I absolutely love them!
