Every month, the team at Scarlett London try to source the best fashion and beauty ideas for a wardrobe worthy of high-fashion recognition, but without the luxury price tag. For November, the inspiration is Scandinavian King of monochrome, textures and structured fabrics, Acne.
It’s easy to fall back into classic greys and blacks during the winter months, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing! I think black is definitely the best colour; simple, chic and always a good idea. However, a pop of powder blue, candy pink or oxblood red will add the perfect twist to any total-black look, to help lift your outfit and your mood.
COS is a master of fluffy textures, soft tailoring and monochromatic and timeless classics. This season, go for their baby blue wool skirt and pair it with their matching wool top for a fabulous co-ord that you can’t get anywhere else. Pair the look with an oversized coat in black, grey or light beige – these colour combinations are so elegant. These metallic plimsolls from ASOS will finish off the look with a cool and younger edge.
As always, I’m obsessed with oversized knits, and, looking at the latest collections during Fashion Week, it seems the oversized silhouette is here to stay. This cable knit sweater from Topshop is a favourite of mine and costs just £44. In soft ivory and high-neck, it’s warm, stylish, easy to wear and will never go out of fashion so you can wear it again and again – pair it with skinny jeans, a flare skirt or loose leather slacks like these ones from ZARA – at just under £30, you can’t afford to miss them!
Every winter, I look for a staple coat that will see me through the season and accompany (almost) all my looks. This month, I spotted this stunning, structured royal blue coat from COS – incredibly priced at £150 – the wool is soft and the design, cut and quality are excellent, so you’ll be buying an investment piece that will never fail you as a super-stylish cover-up.
Yes, we have a fairly monochromatic palette of colours for November but don’t forget to add a fabulous swipe of NARS’s glam lip pencil for long-lasting colour and that uber-chic matte finish that we’ve been seeing on all the catwalks! It’s just £18 – you’ve just got to get it.
