It’s crazy how time flies; I feel like it was just yesterday that I was celebrating entering the New Year 2014 with my newly dyed pink hair (hair chalk) and talking about how second year of Uni was a breeze and I could go out and skip class whenever I felt like it. Now it’s almost 2015, I’m in my final year of Uni (which is absolutely merciless) and I have to start figuring out my life after I graduate.
It’s always a strange time, that transition from one year to the other, the realisation of how much time has gone by is puzzling: another 12 months, 52 weeks, 365 days, 8,760 hours, 525,600 minutes and endless seconds. And yes, you’re one year older, too. To fight the inevitable nostalgia, here at Scarlett London we have put together a fabulous New Year’s fashion wishlist, as per every month. Just another monthly collection with our favourite high-street pieces to add to our wardrobes.
I’m starting the year with my favourites: black & leather. Love Zara’s faux leather trousers; they’re kind of baggy and fall loose on the hips for an effortless feel; plus, they only cost 25.99 as they’re on sale – get them while you can! They come in olive green and wine, too, which I love. Wear your pair with a chunky knit for the daytime and these gorgeous blue suede boots from & Other Stories (you can’t go wrong with Scandinavian fashion!!) and switch to this COS top in navy for the evening – a favourite combination, navy & black is très chic.
NEXT has released its Spring/Summer 2015 collection which is incredible. These courts are stunning, I can’t get over that calfskin heel in bright red – they’re the ultimate must-have. They also come in a black and navy combo. At just £38 each, I’m tempted to get both!
Warehouse has an amazing cropped jacket on sale to keep you looking winter cool while you stay warm. Leather (although faux), with a shearling collar and in pastel blue, it’s an Acne steal – it’s £35 only (from £65) and it looks much more expensive. Wear it over this beige jumpsuit – which by the way, is very Kim K (for those who like her – or even if you don’t, you have to admit, she knows how to dress!) and add a pair of nude courts to finish off the look.
Finally, I always buy a diary every year – and where better than Smythson to get a gorgeous leather diary which you can customise with your initials. It’s hardly high-street but the diary is £35! Start the year afresh with new ideas, goals, ambitions, your New Year’s resolutions, note down memorable moments and birthday reminders, ask your friends and family to write you little notes and letters – make it a personal memoir which you can keep and look back to years later, when it’s 2025 and you’re thinking “How the hell did 10 years go by?”
Happy New Year 2015 to everyone!
