Ever since the announcement of the arrival of the Kardashian/West baby, there has been much hype surrounding the family. The biggest speculation however, was always going to be what would they would name their little bundle of joy. When all was revealed last week, it was surprising enough that the new addition to the Kardashian family did not have a K at the beginning of her name. Even more surprising was that the celeb couple had chosen the slightly unusual name of North for their baby girl. Yes, North West might have been a strange choice but it is by no means the strangest. Here are our top five…
5- Klay Rooney (Wayne & Coleen Rooney) – When your father is a footballer and your mother is busy juggling tv presenter, columnist and fashion designing roles, it doesn’t matter too much what your name is. Jumping on the ‘K’ bandwagon that the Kardashians made popular, the Rooney’s latest arrival is Klay Anthony and is little brother to first child Kai Wayne.
4- Buddy Bear Oliver (Jamie & Jools Oliver) – Famed for their kooky baby names, the tv chef and his wife welcomed a little boy into their ever-growing family in 2010. Buddy Bear is brother to Poppy Honey, Daisy Boo and Petal Rainbow. Quite the collection, I’m sure you’ll agree.
3- Fox India Owen (Mark Owen & Emma Ferguson) –The Take That band member and his wife had a new addition to their brood last summer with little girl Fox India. The couple already had two children- a little boy called Elmwood as well as their middle daughter Willow. Do we sense a nature theme here?
2- Apple Blythe Alison Martin (Chris Martin & Gwyneth Paltrow) – When Gwynnie and Chris named their little girl after the common fruit back in 2004, there was outrage. When quizzed about the unusual choice of name, the actress replied that she thought the name was ‘sweet and wholesome’. Let’s hope this little girl grows up to be as sweet as her namesake!
1- Pilot Inspektor Riesgraf Lee (Jason Lee & Beth Riesgraf) – The most unusual baby name of them all comes from Jason Lee of My Name Is Earl fame. Inspired by the indie rock song ‘He’s Simple, He’s Dumb, He’s the pilot’ by his favourite band Grandaddy, Lee decided to call his son Pilot Inspektor. Is it just me or does it sound more like a job title than a name?
