I’m not ashamed to admit that I absolutely LOVE the Kardashians. I can watch re-runs of Keeping Up With The Kardashians for hours on end. Kardashian Tuesdays on 4music have now become my favourite day of the week, and at the moment, I’m currently ploughing through Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami. There was a point last week, when I had watched so many episodes, I was surprised not to see Kim or Kris when I went downstairs to the kitchen. I know it’s trash TV, and I know it’s not exactly educational, but there’s something about the Kardashian family I just can’t give up. I’d quite happily change my name to Karmen, and play their long lost sister.
So, to capture the true essence of my Kardashian appreciation, and as a little bit of fun, I’ve decided to create a ‘Which Kardashian Are You Quiz’, alongside fashion, make-up and hair tips for transforming into your favourite one. We’re all Kardashian’s deep down. Don’t you think?
If You Are Kim –
As much as some people hate to admit it, Kim Kardashian sets trends in the beauty, hair and fashion worlds, most recently sparking the ‘contouring’ obsession amoung young women, which I will admit, is rather hard to conquer. Although she has several professional make-up artists on hand every day to perfect her Kardashian look, I have scoured the internet for Kim inspired make-up tips, and I have even tried out a few products which I think are perfect for re-creating her look.
Beauty:
Kim has a very distinct contoured and highlighted look, which she rarely strays away from. For her, it’s all about the ‘highlighted’ under eye and chin area, with bronzed cheekbones and t-zone area. This overall look works very well as a ‘photo ready’ look, as it already tells the camera, in essence which parts of her face to pick up. By highlighting under the eyes (Famous Cosmetics Light Reflecting Concealer), the cheekbones really stand out and by bronzing on the jawline (St Tropez Powder Bronzer Matte), Kim’s face always looks slimline and defined.
Kim’s long, thick lashes are another defining feature about her make-up regime, a feature she claims is natural. Of course, you can use false lashes to re-create Kim’s long lashes (one of my favourite Kim lookalike lashes is Eye Candy Strip Lashes, as they are really voluminous), however if you preferred a more natural and less obvious solution, my latest discovery is Freeze Frame Instant Lashes. In a nutshell, Freeze Frame Instant Lashes are brush on lash extensions, without any damage, irritation or glue. I finally tried out this product last week and it is so easy to use, you simply brush the ends of your lashes with the product, which contains hundreds of tiny lash extensions, which then stick to your natural lash and double the length, within seconds. It all sounds too good to be true, I know, and it does take a little bit of practice, but the product is amazing for creating Kim inspired thick, long lashes.
For the lips, Kim often accessories with a glossy red lip, however she mainly sticks to a nude lip, with highlights of peachy pink. One of my recent favourites, and a near match to Kim’s gorgeous look, is Laura Mercier’s Smooth Lip Colour in Creme Coral, as it is the perfect mix of peach, nude and pink – and is of really smooth creamy consistency, so it looks more glossy than matte.
Fashion:
At the moment, Kim is going through a bit of a fashion overhaul, having just announced her pregnancy and with her new relationship with fashion designer Kayne West flourishing. In a recent episode, Kayne’s stylist kicked out all of Kim’s old clothes (from her AMAZING walk-in-wardrobe) and presented her with a completely new designer wardrobe (jealous, me?), so her style has changed in recent months. She’s made a few fashion disasters (I’m sure we’ve all seen the picture of her in the whale outfit doing the rounds) however, she seems to be gravitating towards tight, fitted and structured outfits, consisting of lots of blazers, tailored trousers and bodycon dresses. One of my favourite outfit of hers, of late, was her black bodycon, peplum sleeved Valentino dress, with her gladiator heels and a gorgeous silver necklace.
Hair:
Following in the footsteps of her elder sister, Kim has also (very recently) cut in a fringe, which highlights her already slimline face even more. Although Kim has experimented with styles over the years, she is not complete without her brunette mermaid like extensions, and glossy roots.
If You Are Khloe –
Call it controversial, but Khloe is my favourite Kardashian as I think she would make a fantastic best friend! Not only is she the voice of reason in a giggling girl filled family, but she is also hilarious and very smart. She knows what she’s doing, that one!
Beauty:
Khloe doesn’t have such a distinct style as Kim, as she often likes to change up her look and mix and match dependent on the occasion and the outfit. She does opt for the smokey eye, red lip blend quite a lot however, so I will focus on the look above for the purpose of this article. Again, like her sister – she enjoys the thick, long, full lash look, so extensions or falsies are obligatory. My favourite Khloe inspired lashes are by Eyelure, in ‘Intense’ or ‘Naturalites Evening Wear’.
Khloe is very big on brows, so a HD Brows Palette is a must for her look. It is worth backcombing your brows (sounds weird, but it works) to make them appear fuller and thicker, before then colouring them in with a medium brown shade. For the lips, I prefer Benefit’s Full Finish Lipstick in Cherry red.
Fashion:
Out of all three sisters, I probably admire Khloe’s style the most because she really knows how to dress for her shape. She is quite often criticized for her ‘weight’, although I really don’t see why, because she has the most gorgeous figure out of the three, however she doesn’t let this stop her with regards to what she wears. I love her smart, tailored jeans and blazer looks – and I am in awe of her shoe collection. I love that she wears high street quite often (even British high street too, she loves Motel) and she doesn’t ever look too overdone, or too over the top.
Hair:
Khloe has been sporting the very popular ombre look for the past year or so now, which she pulls off immaculately. As a natural blonde, Khloe actually dyes her hair dark to match her sisters for the show, but with a penchant for being different, she jazzed up her look with golden ends. L’oreal’s Brush On Dip Dye Wild Ombres kit would be ideal for re-creating Khloe’s look (in Ombre No.1) especially if you’re a natural brunette!
If You Are Kourtney –
With two children, and an on-off relationship with their father Scott Disick, Kourtney is the most mature of the sisters, and quite often is there to pick up the pieces for her siblings. I love her dry sense of humour and monotone voice when telling off Scott, as well as her sarcastic remarks when Kim is making herself the centre of attention, yet again.
Beauty:
Kourtney maintains the same highlighted, contoured face as her sister, but perhaps not quite on the same scale. She prefers a bronzed forehead/cheekbones look, with long full lashes and nude glossy lips. Kourtney also likes to line her waterline with a silver or white kohl eye pencil, so bare this in mind if you’re going to re-create her look. I love Rimmel’s Kohl Eye Pencils (in silver/white) as they rarely irritate eyes, but provide a bold, eye opening colour that compliments any smokey eye look.
Fashion:
At a petite 5ft, Khloe often has to dress for her smaller frame with tight fitted dresses and t-shirts and denim shorts or jeans. In recent months, she has opted for slightly baggier clothes, with white hareem pants and patterned jumpers, ankle tied stilettos and floaty floral t-shirts. I’m not a huge follower of Kourtney’s style, but I do admire the way she accessorizes.
Hair:
Before Kim ‘got bangs’, her sister Kourtney had them cut in, and personally I think she suits them more. With big eyes and pouty lips, a fringe only enhances her features and slimlines the overall look of her face, which is really flattering. Rather than a full fringe, Kourtney opted for a more choppy, thin one, but it stills looks fantastic! What do you think?
