Before Fashion Week, I had almost given up on my blog. I was bored of writing about the same things, bored of the layout, bored of my house style photography and bored of blogging. Nothing about it excited me anymore and I was worried that the one thing I’d kept up for the longest (surpassing ballet, 3 years, photography, 2 years and the gym, 1 month) was finally starting to end.
However, the weekend of the 21st Feb was a game changer. I met so many inspirational bloggers, with the most incredible styles, ideas and aspirations. It made me realise how much I do love blogging, how far I’ve come and how much I want it. Blogging takes a vast amount of energy and time from your day, but it’s so worth it – especially when you have a lengthy online portfolio (and diary) of your life.
So, I’ve been blogging a little more recently and as promised, will introduce lots more outfit posts onto the site. I’m not a natural poser (you should see the outtakes, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry) nor am I the kind of girl who can fling anything on and look effortless. Unfortunately. So I guess I’m not the typical blogger but I’m really eager to be a bit more adventurous with my fashion choices and just have fun with it!
First up is a little outfit I like to think is a mix between casual and formal – the ultimate smart casual. The dress is a blue, silky soft shift dress with two tie up pieces which when worn – looks a little like you’ve tied a matching jumper around your waist. I know this kind of look has been sported lots by the Kardashians and Rihanna (albeit on a slightly more dramatic scale) however I wasn’t sure it was very ‘me’. However, when I saw it online for £20 on Boohoo, I couldn’t resist. In reality, it’s the most gorgeously flattering fit. Honestly – when I took these photos I wasn’t feeling my best and I indulged in pizza and chocolate fondant over the weekend (oops) and yet there’s no bulging tummy in sight (it’s a miracle!).
The coat is from Pretty Little Thing (a very affordable £35) and is the comfiest, softest jacket I’ve ever worn. It’s a cross between velvet/felt/faux cashmere and I’m absolutely in love with it. It reminds me a little of a dressing gown (another favourable aspect) and ties at the waist, which means it’s very flattering on all figures – which surprised me!
My boots are from Ravel (currently on sale down from £80 to £40) and are the perfect solution if you’re looking for a pair of knee highs but don’t fancy toppling over on the big clompy heels they normally come with. Initially I was a little worried that knee highs would emphasise the worst part of my legs – however luckily, these hug the thinnest part and flatter in all the right places. I throw these on quite regularly with a pair of leggings, tights or jeans!
The bag is my new pride and joy, a beautiful little DKNY number from Harvey Nichols. It’s the perfect size to take on a day trip, or a night out – as it can fit in all the essentials (purse, phone, camera, mints) without looking overly bulky or full. My beautiful necklace is a personalised locket from Venus With Love, I’ll be doing an entire post on it soon (as there’s lots to talk about) but I love how the rose gold elements work with the outfit rather than against it!

Well, ring-a-ding-ding, honka honka Mrs! You look INCREDIBLE! I love how flattering that wrap around is.
I was starting to lose faith in my blog. Constantly comparing myself to others. But, by a stroke of luck I have become a lot more inspired after a day out or two. It really got my photography juices flowing and it created a wonderful few posts. I hope that long may it continue. Sometimes we just need to look outside the box to find some inspo, and you have it in bucketloads babe!

Awww Bee, that’s definitely a compliment that has brightened my day! Thank you lovely 😀
So pleased to hear you’ve regained your blogging inspiration too, I think I waiver off and become frustrated if things don’t immediately go to plan – taking it out on my blog, however in actuality, I love doing it and oddly, I find it very therapeutic, think I just needed a little time out to re-evaluate. Thanks again for the lovely words 🙂 xxx

Absolutely love this outfit! The wraparound coat looks so cosy and comfortable, I love a good throw-on jacket and this could be my new favourite 🙂 I’m glad you’ve found the inspiration to continue with your blog- it is so hard to keep going at times when you’re constantly comparing yourself to other bloggers with thousands of followers who seem to be natural models/photographers/writers but remember they’ve got their own hang-ups and problems too so keep it up! xx

Thanks for your lovely comment Emma, that’s very true – I guess it is natural to compare but you do forget (especially when everything has a ‘perfect’ Instagram filter on it) that everybody has hang ups too! I’m so pleased you like the outfit – the coat is definitely very comfy, almost a dressing gown that’s acceptable to wear outside (albeit much more on trend)! Thanks again xx
