Summer has officially begun in the UK and with the new weather, comes an updated wardrobe too. Having spent nothing at all on clothes for the first half of the year (as I was saving up for something rather big and exciting – for which I will reveal all soon), when June arrived and the holidays started to draw closer, I went a little mad online shopping. Yumi was one of my first stops, as they always have such pretty pastel and patterned dresses which tend to suit my shape.
So when they approached me about joining their 30 Days of Summer campaign – challenging me to style an outfit ready for the influx of sunny weather – I hopped on board without any questions asked. That is my kind of challenge!
I struggled to choose my outfit, as there was such a large selection and I couldn’t narrow it down to just one ‘summer look’. Eventually I settled on this gorgeous coral high-neck textured lace dress, which I loved so much – I actually took away with me to Austria and wore it twice, both in the evening and during the day. I teamed it with this gold leaf necklace and these pretty rose gold shiny metallic flatform sandals (can you believe they’re only £13.50?), which I didn’t think I could pull off at first (as I’ve got quite chunky legs but in hindsight, I actually think they’re quite flattering!).
The dress is deceptively comfortable, with a nipped in waist and floaty, soft material which hides even a severely carb-bloated stomach (yes, tried and tested). I love how the coral is almost neon, making it perfect for showing off your newly obtained tan (as you can see, mine hasn’t quite made an appearance just yet) – and the length is ideal for me, as I hate dresses I keep having to pull down – or those that cover your knees entirely making your legs look stumpy (well, mine at least).
The shoes are really comfortable also, with a spongy sole and smooth, shiny straps which don’t cause blisters even if you wear them for hours on end (from new). I usually tend to go for typical flat gladiator sandals for holiday, so it was refreshing to wear something with a bit of a heel!
What is your signature summer look going to be? I hope you’re all enjoying the fab weather we’re enjoying at the moment!
