London, it’s one of those places you just keep going back to time and time again. So you’ve walked along the Thames, you’ve visited Buckingham palace and of course you’ve spent half of your money walking along Oxford Street, so what’s next? There’s so many different things to get up to in London, whether you’re on a strict budget or you’ve got a little leeway on how much you want to spend. We’ve compiled a list of some of the best things to get up to during a weekend in the capital.
Experience Covent Garden
If you want to make the most out of your time in London, be sure to stay somewhere like the Rosewood Hotel where you can sit back, relax and entice in a few spa treatments. Covent Garden is a hub for all things exciting, whether you want to explore the great markets, stop off at the boutique shops or you want to delve into the street entertainment; there’s so many great things to squeeze into a day, or a weekend.
It’s a known fact that if you’re British, afternoon tea is a favourite! Whether you want to go low key and pick up a deal on Groupon, or you want to splash out and treat yourself to something a bit more upper class like the Ritz, London is the spot for Afternoon Tea. With the rise of abstract and unique teas like ‘The Mad hatters Tea Party’ at the Sanderson Hotel where you can indulge in Rhubarb custard, Victoria Sponges and Oreo cookie soldiers, this is truly one you don’t want to miss out on!
Shop Shop Shop
It’s a known fact that London is a hub for all things shopping. Whether you want to indulge in the chaos of Oxford Street, or you want to go behind the scenes and look at all things luxury on Bond & Regent Street. There’s a shopping district in the capital for everyone! One’s thing for certain, if you are in the capital, you can’t miss out on a visit to Harrods, where you can truly indulge in all things British (be sure to pick up one of the infamous green bags!).
It sounds like such an obvious and quite silly suggestion, but have you ever just taken a step back and indulged in a city? Maybe you have, or maybe you’re too busy trying to squeeze in all the touristy things that you struggle to really embrace the capital. London is full of beautiful parks, and great places to walk. Maybe you want to go on a proper tour, or maybe you just want to take a stroll down the Thames, either way, be sure to leave your phone at home to really get the most out of it!
Sip on coffee!
London is full of coffee shops, some small businesses, some large scale chains. It all depends on what you’re after. I love nothing more than finding a hidden gem tucked away from the busy and franticness of the city, do a bit of research on TripAdvisor first off to see what other people are rating!
