Anyone that knows me, understands and appreciates my love of pink. It started when I was younger – and I’ve never really grown out of it.
So of course, when we started redecorating our new home, we had to allocate at least ONE room of the house to embrace this gorgeous feminine shade!
And since we had one very natural guest bedroom already, we figured why not turn the other one into the ultimate boho, chic, pink paradise?
So, here’s the rather blank canvas room we started with…
And here is the almost finished result…
The first step, of course, was to choose a wall colour – because while I do LOVE pink, I wanted a chic pink, rather than a bubblegum, sickly sweet 5-year-old pink. After much deliberation and many test swatches, we finally settled for a Valspar colour match of Cinder Rose by F&B.
We really love the Valspar v700 premium wall and ceiling paint because it has an in-built primer, which means the colour is rich, pigmented and full after just one coat!
Often choosing a colour and then bulk buying paint can feel like quite a daunting decision. Thoughts such as ‘are you SURE it’s the right colour?‘ are whizzing through your head, as you try and figure out whether you have enough litres of paint to cover the room.
However, Valspar offer a great ‘Love Your Colour’ guarantee, which means that once you get home and start painting, hopefully you will love the colour you’ve chosen and stick with it. But if not, you can use the new guarantee and twist to a new option!
This takes the pressure off a little bit and ensures you can be 100% happy with your choice of colour!
And rather than just doing a feature wall in our statement pink shade, we actually went the whole hog and painted ALL the walls in the room, which has really warmed it up and created the most decadent, boutique-hotel style feel.
Our gorgeous bed is from Bed Guru – and I think the mink shade works really nicely against the pink to enhance the chic, boho vibe we were going for.
Originally we had mirrored side-tables in here, but I swapped them out with our other guest room, for these IKEA Hemnes tables – which I think suits the room far more.
Obviously we’re not quite finished in here, as we need new table lamps, wooden shutter blinds (ignore our very chic £3 temporary IKEA blinds for the moment), artwork for above the bed and some more faux foliage, but I’m really happy with how the room has been transformed.
When you have a basic blank canvas in the form of a new build, it can feel very overwhelming to create warmth and homeliness to a space, but I am starting to relish the start-to-finish experience of making over a room.
I can’t wait to add more gold accents to the room at some point in the near future – in the form of brass light switches, handles and frames. But it will continue to be a work in progress, so follow @scarlettlondonhome for updates.
