I’ve been eager to host another giveaway for quite sometime, as in the run-up to the festive period – it’s unlikely that we’ll be spending any money on treating ourselves and so it’s lovely to be able to offer something to my readers as a pre-Christmas treat! However nothing seemed special enough (or festive enough) to justify an individual giveaway – until the lovely Rachel (who incidentally used to write for this blog) got in touch with an exciting opportunity!
As you’ll probably know, earlier in the year, YouTubers Sam & Nic Chapman launched the ‘Bold Metals’ collection within their world famous (and beauty market renowned) Real Techniques Brushes brand.
I’ve been a fan of their regular selection for several years, as they happen to be one of the only sets that don’t interact with my sensitive skin, plus the bristles are the softest I’ve ever come across and always leave any make-up application with a flawless finish. However, I hadn’t yet had the opportunity to try their raved about new selection and so – with rose gold and silver accents – which I figured was pretty festive, I thought I’d team up and offer one lucky reader their very own complete Bold Metals set!
Probably my favourite from the collection is the Arched Powder brush (£25) which has the softest bristles and sweeps perfectly across the face for flawless application of both loose and pressed powders (I tend to use the latter as it’s less messy). I do tend to find that my dry (ish) skin can mean that powdered foundations and finishers collect in particular areas or can look a bit patchy and cakey, however this magic solution has somehow prevented this. My make-up below has been applied using the entire collection (excuse the ridiculous posing) and nothing has been edited, so I’m pretty impressed with the outcome!
Another one that I know I’ll be using religiously is the Pointed Crease brush (£12) which has very densely packed bristles for a smokey effect. The bane of my make-up life is getting the smokey eye crease just right (there have been tears on several occasions because the shadow has gone EVERYWHERE and I end up looking like Jenny from Gossip Girl in her racoon days rather than the Kendall Jenner esque smokey eye that I was originally trying to recreate). This somehow manages to contain all the colour to where you want it and is really easy to build up for a more dramatic effect or keep light for everyday wear. It’s so much better than the average shadow brushes (or those annoying little pads that you get with eye shadow kits) and I am still astounded by this discovery.
Also included is the Triangle Foundation (£22), which is pretty self explanatory (but shaped differently for a flawless application – because it can get in all the contours rather than leaving your face looking like it’s been painted on – complete with brush strokes). The Oval Shadow brush (£15) is for all-over lid application and seamless blending (following the use of your Pointed Crease – see above). The Angled Liner (£10) is slanted and fits as close to the lash line as humanly possible, allowing for Adele style application (well, I may still need a bit of practice).
The Tapered Blush (£24) is perfect for re-creating the popular strobing trend, with a specially-designed tip to highlight and sculpt your face for a seamless finish while the Flat Contour (£22) can create shadows and highlights on targeted areas of the face to play up your favourite features.
All in all, I think you’ll agree it’s a fabulous family of brushes and I’m so excited to be giving one lucky reader a full set to try out for themselves! Worth £130, it will be fantastic for experimenting with new festive (and New Year) looks – so I’m eager to see who wins. If you’d like to enter (and you’ll be getting a brand new set – not mine, don’t worry) please use the widget below. You can enter once per day (as many times as you’d like) and you’ll also be granted two extra entries over on Instagram, where I’ll be posting two of the above photographs. A ‘like’ or a ‘follow’ will account for two extra entries – so feel free to head on over to @ScarlettLondon!
