I’ve never really considered what happens to all the sad, unwanted and lonely gift cards of the world. Bought by distant relatives, tossed to one side, collecting dust on our shelves before being discarded when it runs out of date. I think my most ‘treasured’ was a Homebase gift card, received aged 11. I’m not sure whether the gifter thought I’d be moving out and doing my own home up within the year, but clearly they thought I’d enjoy trotting down to the DIY store for a spot of shopping. Unfortunately, they’d misjudged the situation entirely and the poor soul lay lifeless, never to be used.
Today however, there’s no such thing as an unused, unwanted gift card any longer. Recently, I discovered an amazing app which not only transforms your dusty gift cards into cold, hard cash but also allows savvy spenders to snap up someone else’s gift cards for discount prices. Well, you know what they say – one man’s junk is another man’s treasure. In this case, one unwanted £20 New Look Gift-Card can be bought for £15 – making your money go further and ridding someone of their unused presents.
The app in question is called Zeek, free to download and super easy to sign up. You can pay for the gift cards using PayPal (if you find that’s easier) and many of them are online vouchers, so you can spend them straight away. I recently spotted a £35 Boots voucher for £29, a whopping discount of 17%!
To try out their service for myself, I was offered a very generous £50 in Zeek credit, which I merrily put towards a Homebase gift card…
I’m joking – I actually spent it on a £75 voucher for New Look, which I had immense fun in spending on a couple of new summery items for my holidays. As a student, every pound counts so this was a real treat for me and I’m become slightly addicted to browsing the ‘rails’ and finding another bargain gift card. So much so, I even found myself pondering over a £20 Tesco gift card – for my groceries!
If you’re looking to make your money stretch, or fancy treating yourself and being savvy in the process – I’d definitely recommend a browse of Zeek. Everything from Mothercare, to Primark, to Apple to Asda can be searched for and you might even be able to cover the cost with one of your unused gift cards too! It’s a win, win!
And, if you’re interested – I’ve been given an exclusive code to knock £5 off your first Zeek order – enter 2savug into the ‘promo’ tab for your credit to be added.
Happy shopping!

I was provided with £50 credit in return for this review, however this does not affect my opinions in any way and if I didn’t like something, I would be completely honest – regardless of the compensation I received.
