When it comes to perfumes, I have a rather fussy taste. I could spend hours in Boots, umming and ahhing about various different scents, before then walking out empty handed. Despite this however, I have managed to find two gorgeous scents (albeit designer) that I absolutely adore, and will be taking away with me to University. Loverdose By Diesel and Dolce & Gabbana Rose The One. So, without further ado, I thought I’d give you as much of a taster of them both as I could. You won’t want to miss them, I promise.
With an absolutely amazing name, and an equally amazing bottle, this perfume is perfect in terms of aesthetics. I know it shouldn’t be about what the perfume looks like on the outside (yes, yes – it’s what’s on the ‘inside’ that counts) but I always take it into account. If I’m spending £40 + on a perfume, I at least want it to look relatively attractive on my dressing table. And this one certainly ticks all of those boxes.
With regards to the scent itself, it’s weirdly, a little less ‘girly’ than the usual fragrances I tend to go for. With top notes of Vanilla and Liquorice, it’s sweet but also very distinct and unusual. As the day carries on, more floral notes tend to come to play, however the entirety of the scent is a mix between muskiness and sweetness. It’s certainly different, but not overwhelming so. It smells expensive and it’s one of those fragrances you can easily recognize by nose alone.
Contained in an elegant, rose gold style bottle, this aptly named perfume is classy, feminine and fresh. Everything I love about designer fragrances. Fronted by the beautiful Scarlett Johansson, the scent itself is very flirtatious. It’s floral, but also very fruity. Top notes include pink grapefruit and mandarin whilst mid notes include lily, lychee and rose.
At first, admittedly, the scent itself is fairly overwhelming (one or two spritzes is plenty) but it soon mellows down and lingers for several hours. It is a pricey fragrance, but the scent is oh so worth it!
Both fragrances are from Fragrance Direct, which you can visit here.
