Starting a blog opens up a whole new world of opportunities, friends and worries. Honestly, it does.
Since setting up my blog in 2011, my brain is constantly whirring with little ideas I could put to paper (or wordpress, as I now think of it), I’m constantly sneaking new products into my basket in Boots (oh, that will be good to blog about) and my rather large, imposing camera comes everywhere with me. So in aid of my new blogging life, I’ve come up with a list of things bloggers can (hopefully) relate to.
Here goes, here are the woes and worries of a blogger’s daily life..
Watching the postman stagger up your driveway, with the weight of about 8 new beauty products parceled up under his arm is the best feeling in the world! It’s like Christmas every day in blogger world!
Feeling very disappointed when the postman arrives at your door with a variety of boring looking letters, all addressed to someone other than you.
Receiving strange looks from family/friends when a well presented meal arrives on your table at the restaurant. Who cares if it’s not yours, it looks Instagram-able!
Or worse still, feeling the need to photograph your meal from every possible angle for your next blog post – meaning that by the time you finally tuck in, it’s gone cold.
Waking up early on a Saturday morning (and dragging your poor, bedraggled boyfriend along with you) to photograph ‘your outfit’ before you start your day. Carrying your rather high and ‘impossible to walk in’ heels in your bag whilst you walk bare feet. Heels aren’t for walking in you know, just for photographing.
Feeling a blog post brainwave whilst at work, piled high with tonnes on your to-do list. By the time you’re home, it’s long gone – your blogging motivation is faltering and the post you in-visioned is lost forever.
Spending £50 on new make-up items and then realizing you haven’t got enough money for petrol to get home.
And even worse, not being able to use your new make-up until it’s been photographed (again) from every considerable angle.
Receiving a blank look from relatives every time you mention the word ‘blog’. And then trying to explain what a blog is before giving up entirely. If you’re not a blogger you won’t understand! Sigh!
Attending a non-blogger event and realizing there’s no free champagne or cupcakes on arrival. You mean, we have to buy our own drinks? How are we going to survive without cupcakes?
When your friends ask to look through your camera (and inevitably go further than the ones we’ve just taken) and find themselves scrolling through 100’s of photographs of moisturizers, cleansers, lipglosses and perfumes. I guess it would be kind of weird if we weren’t bloggers?
Testing and swatching new eye shadow colours on your hand, forgetting to wash them off and then spending most of the day wandering around with multi-coloured bruises on your skin (much to the amusement of my fellow train passengers).
Trying so many moisturizers, creams and face masks on yourself in the evening (purely for blogging purposes, obviously) and practically sliding into bed.
If you can think of any other typical ‘blogger confessions’ or worries and woes, please feel free to leave them below! Or if you can relate to any of the above, let me know! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
