Last week was jam packed full of beauty events for us here at Scarlett London and on Thursday we were lucky enough to be invited to attend The Beauty Mart Press Day.
To bring you up to speed, Beauty Mart is essentially an online destination founded by former beauty director of Vogue, Anna-Marie Solowij and Millie Kendall of Ruby & Millie cosmetics. It is completely unique in the sense that Anna and Millie handpick each individual item that appears on the site meaning you can find brands like Rimmel London and EOS as well as more high end products, but they will only feature if Anna and Millie think they are worth using. With over 25 years in the beauty industry (and utterly perfect skin in person) I can safely say that I trust the ladies with personal recommendations.
Arriving rather promptly, at 8.45am no less, I was the first invitee to arrive at the Purple PR office, eager to get stuck in and learn about several new beauty brands. By 9am more ladies began to trickle in and the presentation soon began. Displayed in front of us, were a spread of new products that are soon to be launching onto the site this season, which were individually talked through by Anna-Marie, Millie and Kate Shapland.
As you can see from the photos, the room was absolutely full of products so here is a quick run down on some of the days pickings.
Legology Air-Lite Daily Lift for Legs, £60
Hotly anticipated and developed by Beauty Editor of the Telegraph, Kate Shapland, this product has been designed to lighten heavy legs and discourage cellulite. With a delicious lemony scent it is to be massaged into skin once or twice a day for optimum results.
Scott Barnes Body Bling, £28
This bronzing body moisturiser is a favourite among A-listers including Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and Nicole Scherzinger. A little goes a long way with this product as just a pearl-sized amount will leave your skin with a sun-kissed, glimmering finish.
Aqua Manda Frangrance 100ml, £40
This gorgeous fragrance was the signature scent of the ‘60s and ‘70s and despite itbeing discontinued in the ’70s, it was brought back by popular demand in 2013. And I can safely say I know why – it smells absolutely amazing, a Mandarin base with notes of cinnamon, ginger and lavender. This really is vintage at its best!
Brownberry Clear Sunless Tanning Spray, 30
Tanning products are everywhere at the moment and it seems that they are here to stay. Gone are the days of smelling like a biscuit, this self-tanning spray has a fresh green tea scent and is enriched with Vitamin D3.
Beauty Spotter App
Created by Gemma Bellman, this app is the new Instagram of the beauty world. Aimed at beauty lovers and professionals, users can log onto the app to see a gallery of ‘selfies’ taken by fellow BeautySpotters fresh from the salon, allowing them a ‘sneak peek’ of their finished look and the quality of the salon or stylist before they book an appointment. More can be found on the app here.
Other products that really excited me would have to be the EOS Shaving Cream, £10.50 as it smelt amazing and can be used on wet AND dry skin. Similarly, I loved the RGB Nail Polishes, £15, as this brand combines the hottest trend around (and lifestyle choice) of being green with luxury, along with the fact that the collection is filled with gorgeous neutrals of which I adore. Lastly is the brand Sans [Ceuticals], which was initially created in New Zealand and focuses on ingredients that repair, nourish and protect skin and hair. It is pure, natural and free of harmful chemicals. We tried the Activator 7 Body + Hair + Face Oil, £35 which had the most incredible texture and smelled absolutely divine.
The presentation was rather quick, but very insightful and it was amazing to be able to talk on a one-to-one basis with Anna and Millie who are so knowledgable about beauty and so honest about the products they use. If you haven’t shopped with Beauty Mart yet, what are you waiting for?
