Very appropriately, this month’s Glossy Box is festival themed and features an array of products that are ideal for assisting you in surviving any festival! Inside July’s Glossy Box are a number of multi-purpose products, perfect for festival life – as they can be used for a number of different uses and help you keep looking gorgeous!
Bex London Londoner Urban Fragrance
If you are a Glossy Box subscriber, you will have got one out of the four ‘Bex London’ samples, as the brand have created four very different, ‘modern’ fragrances inspired by a specific postcode in London. I received the ‘N6’ version, so ideally the perfume should represent Highgate/Hampstead Heath. If I’m completely honest, I hated it – and whilst the perfume does get better the longer you wear it, I definitely don’t think it’s the kind of fragrance you’d wear to a festival. My idea of a festival perfume is something that’s easy wearing, light, fruity and fun – rather than this, which is more so full of elegance with crisp bergamot and sandalwood. Similarly, the price for a full size version (£81.00) is a little steep for someone who has just forked out £180 + on a festival ticket. I could be wrong though, perhaps the other Bex London postcode fragrances were more suitable? Let me know if were able to test out one of the other samples and how you found it!
Awapuhi Wild Ginger Texturising Sea Spray
Unlike the above, this product is most definitely festival suited – as textured, sea-salt waves are a hot hair trend this season and achieving it without having been on the beach in Barbados can often prove very difficult without the assistance of this spray! My hair is naturally wavy and it’s very rare that I do anything to it on holiday, however if you struggle with getting your hair into waves (without spending hours with the straighteners/curlers) then this is worth a try! It doesn’t smell amazing, but it definitely does the job! Plus a full size 150ml bottle is only £18.95 – although the smaller sample size that we received in the Glossy Box is far more handy for fitting inside your luggage!
Monu Calming Cream
This was probably my favourite product out of the lot, as it really does what it says and is relatively affordable for what looks like a expensive brand! The cream itself claims to neutralise redness on your t-zone, cheeks and chin due to its green-tinted ingredient. Whilst it doesn’t completely rid you of all your blotches, it definitely hydrates skin and leaves it looking much calmer than before. After a few uses, you can definitely see red spots start to fade and you are left with far clearer skin!
Jelly Pong Pong Lip Frosting
Not only do I love the name of this product, but also it’s multi-functional qualities – as it serves as both a lip gloss and a cheek tint. If I’m being very critical, I do think it’s a little sticky to use on your cheeks, especially if you have olive/dark skin as it takes a few dollops to show up, however if you are using it on your lips, it’s amazing! The colour is really vibrant without being too over the top and the hydration of the lip frosting lasts hours!
Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse
Despite the rather pretentious name, this multi-purpose oil actually works wonders for the face, hair and body! Hair ‘miracle’ oils are becoming increasingly popular these days due to their repairing qualities and visible results, however it’s only in recent months that beauty companies have started to catch onto the benefits these oils can have on our skin too! It’s mainly used to hydrate skin (rather than using a moisturiser) and despite my initial hesitations, this actually worked really well to hydrate and repair my skin and didn’t leave it looking overly greasy – which is often a worry with oil based products. When I tested this out, I definitely could visibly see a difference in my hair (and my skin) after just one use and for £17.50 for a full-size version, it’s definitely worth the investment.
Sorry if it seems like I’ve been really negative about this month’s box – I don’t mean to be! I have tried and tested each of the products and apart from the fragrance – I am most definitely going to use the rest (and probably buy a full size version of the Monu cream when it runs out).
